A helicopter crashed near Lituya Bay, Alaska, on September 28th.
The helicopter was transporting four people from Grand Prairie, Texas, to Wasilla, Alaska, when it went down.
The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 14-year-old survivor of the crash. Other occupants of the aircraft remain missing.
A small plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off Amagansett, New York, on June 2nd.
The incident happened when the Piper PA-31 Navajo plane was carrying four people, including the pilot Jon Dollard, 47, famed Hamptons home builder Ben Krupinski, 70, his wife, Bonnie Bistrian Krupinski, 70, and their grandson, Will Maerov, 22.
As of June 3rd, only two bodies had been recovered. However, all four occupants of the plane are presumed dead.
Thomas Cook Airlines flight MT-2652 had to return and make an emergency landing in Manchester, England, on June 26th.
According to the airline, the airbus A330-200 plane heading to Holguin, Cuba, had to turn back due to a low oil indication.
The plane landed back safely, however, the tip of its left wing was missing.
All passengers and crew members remained safe.
A small plane made an emergency landing at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, Florida, on April 28th.
The plane was flying from Belize to Tampa, Florida, when the pilot declared an emergency reporting that the left main gear wheel was missing.
The plane landed safely. Chief Operating Officer of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, Mark Stuckey, said, “Luckily when it did land, the aircraft did not catch fire, there were sparks but it safely skidded into the grass.”

There were three people onboard out of whom a woman was rescued and taken to hospital.

Cargolux flight CV-775 had to return and make an emergency landing at Calgary International Airport, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on May 28th.
The Boeing 747-400, en-route to Luxembourg, had to return shortly after the crew heard a loud bang followed by the stick shaker activating. It later turned out that an AoA (Angle of Attack) vane was missing.
The plane landed uneventfully.
All people onboard remained safe.
A military helicopter crashed during an enemy chase mission in Poso District, Sulawesi, Indonesia, on March 20.
The Bell 412-EP was on its mission to capture Indonesia’s most wanted militant Abu Wardah Santoso when it went down and crashed.
At least 12 soldiers and officials aboard the helicopter lost their lives and one soldier went missing.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Yamal Airlines flight YC-145 had to return and make an emergency landing in Tyumen, Ural Federal District, Russia, on March 9.
The Boeing 737-400, heading from Tyumen to Novy Urengoy, Russia, had to return shortly afterwards after one of its main wheels was reported missing.
The plane landed uneventfully.
All 155 people aboard remained unhurt.

A small plane crashed into Setauket Harbor, Long Island Sound, New York, on February 20.
The Piper PA-28 was flying from Massachusetts when it lost engine power, prompting the pilots to make a crash-landing.
There were four people aboard at the time, including the student pilot Austricio Ramirez who was flying the plane when it began experiencing issues, and the instructor pilot Nelson Gomez who took over the control afterwards and landed the plane in Setauket Harbor.
Authorities said Ramirez, Gomez, and a third passenger Wady Perez were rescued by the officers. The fourth person, identified as 23-year-old Gerson Salmon-Negron, remains missing.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.
A small plane crashed into water at Barwon Heads on Bellarine Peninsula, Victoria, Australia, on January 29.
Authorities said the four-seater plane, flying from Moorabbin, went down some 2 kilometers off Collendina Beach.
Three people were killed in the accident while a fourth occupant is missing. The passengers included a 68-year-old man from Noble Park, a 63-year-old woman from Black Rock, a 65-year-old man from Black Rock, and 55-year-old man from Mordialloc.
The incident is being investigated.
Southwest flight 987 made an emergency landing in San Antonio, Texas, on December 13.
The plane was heading from Austin to Valley International Airport, Harlingen, when the crew noticed that a part of the wing was missing and decided to divert.

A Spanish military helicopter crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, around 280 nautical miles from its destination on Gando air base, Gran Canaria Island, Spain, on October 22.
The Super Puma helicopter, carrying a captain, a lieutenant and sergeant, went down after taking off from Mauritania. Authorities said the chopper had been involved in military exercises in Dakar, Senegal and stopped at Mauritania for refueling.
All 3 crew members went missing after the crash. A search operation is underway.
The cause of crash is being investigated.
AirAsia flight QZ8501–an Airbus A320-200 with the registration number PK-AXC–en route from Surabaya Indonesia to Singapore went missing. Air traffic control lost contact when the plane was believed to be in an overcast area.
A fully fueled A320 has a range of 1,700 to 6,500 mmi.
Singapore civil aviation is assisting Indonesia in the search that is now underway, utilizing two C-130 planes and at least six ships. The first reports say there are six or seven crew and 155 passengers — 138 adults, 16 children and a baby. An engineer is aboard.
Currently it is believed to have gone missing under cloud cover at 6.17 a.m. local time over the Java Sea between Kalimantan and Java islands.
According to a Transport Ministry official, before ATC lost contact, the plane had requested an unusual route, possibly deviating due to adverse weather conditions.

AirAsia Indonesia regrets to confirm that flight QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore has lost contact with air traffic control at 07:24hrs this morning.
At the present time we unfortunately have no further information regarding the status of the passengers and crew members on board, but we will keep all parties informed as more information becomes available.
The aircraft was an Airbus A320-200 with the registration number PK-AXC.
At this time, search and rescue operations are in progress and AirAsia is cooperating fully and assisting the rescue service.

AIRASIA INDONESIA FLIGHT QZ 8501
Airbus regrets to confirm that an A320-200 operated by AirAsia Indonesia lost contact with air traffic control this morning, 28th December 2014. The aircraft was operating a scheduled service, Flight QZ 8501, from Surabaya to Singapore.
The aircraft involved is MSN (Manufacturer Serial Number) 3648, registered as PK-AXC and was delivered to AirAsia from the production line in October 2008. Powered by CFM 56-5B engines, the aircraft had accumulated approximately 23,000 flight hours in some 13,600 flights. At this time no further factual information is available.
In line with the ICAO Annex 13 international convention, Airbus will provide full assistance to the French safety investigation authority, BEA, and to the authorities in charge of the investigation.
The Airbus A320-200 is a twin-engine single-aisle aircraft seating up to 180 passengers in a single-class configuration. The first A320 entered service in March 1988. By the end of November 2014, over 6000 A320 Family aircraft were in service with over 300 operators. To date, the entire fleet has accumulated some 154 million flight hours in some 85 million flights.
Airbus will make further factual information available as soon as the details have been confirmed and cleared by the authorities.

A team of two safety investigators is leaving for Jakarta (Indonesia) this evening. They will be accompanied by two technical advisers from Airbus.

Following this morning’s announcement by the Indonesian authorities of loss of contact with the Airbus A320-200 registered PK-AXC, and the launch of search operations, the BEA is in contact with the Indonesian authorities to provide them with assistance.
The aeroplane, operated by AirAsia Indonesia, was flying the Surabaya (Indonesia) to Singapore route and was scheduled to arrive at Changi Airport Singapore at 08 h 30 local time.
The BEA is the French Civil Aviation Safety Investigation Authority. Its investigations are conducted with the sole objective of improving aviation safety and are not intended to apportion blame or liability. BEA investigations are independent, separate and conducted without prejudice to any judicial or administrative action that may be taken to determine blame or liability.
A cargo plane, operating flight SKZ7101, crashed just after taking off from St. Maarten-Princess Juliana International airport, located in St. Maarten, a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on October 29.
The plane, operated by a U.S. company SkyWay Enterprises was heading from Philipsburg on St Maarten to San Juan, Puerto Rico, when it went down into ocean around 3.2 kilometers from the airport.
There were 2 pilots aboard the aircraft at the time of accident. One of them was found dead while the other one is still missing.
The cause of accident is not clear at the moment. According to the local officials, an investigation will be conducted with the assistance from the U.S.
A twin-engine Hawker Siddeley 125-600A, flying from Santo Domingo to Punto Cana in Dominican Republic, went missing shortly after taking off from Las Americas airport on September 10.
According to the Special Airport Security Agency, only pilot and the co-pilot were aboard the plane when it lost communication with the control tower.
Civil Aviation spokesperson Hector Olivo said the search operation for the aircraft, which was registered to a company based out of Dover, Delaware, was launched on Thursday.
A U.S. built Robinson 44 helicopter crashed into waters in central Denmark, near the eastern coast of Samsoe Island, on September 5.
The authorities believe that the private helicopter was en-route to Samsoe with 4 people aboard when it crashed.
Three dead bodies have so far been recovered from the sea, while the search for the fourth person is underway.
The identities of victims and the information regarding ownership of the helicopter has not yet been released.

On July 24, 2014, a McDonnell Douglas MD-83 leased from SwiftAir and flown for Air Algérie disappeared fifty minutes into the flight between Ouagadougou Airport and its destination in Algiers, Algeria. Pilots requested a route change request due to weather.
The hundred and ten passengers and six Spanish crew members were aboard. Algiers is a transit point for Lebanese flying home to Beirut. Twenty Lebonese were aboard, including Fadi Rustom and Joseph Hajj from Aintoura, and Omar Ballan from Ghazir. About fifty French may be aboard also.
The most recent report is that the plane crashed in Niger, according to Elnahar TV.
Mali is unstable, but an airline spokesperson said unofficially “the fighters have shoulder-fired weapons which could not hit an aircraft at cruising altitude.”

A Hutch Air Cessna 421B Golden Eagle en route from Abbotsford International Airport to Tofino BC had one passenger and one pilot aboard when it went missing on December 14, 2013, at 14:25 local time.
The twin engine plane was expected at 2:50 pm. It was over Vargas Island on radar when it disappeared at the densely wooded island in Clayoquot Sound. A search of the west coast of Vacouver island by the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre Victoria has been implemented but has been hampered by fog, rain, low cloud cover and darkness over Tofino. Two search and rescue helicopters pulled out Saturday because of no visibility, and are continuing the search today. A crew is also on the island searching on foot.
