Air France Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Russia

Air France flight AF-116 made an emergency landing in Irkutsk, Russia, on November 11th.

The plane heading from Paris, France, to Shanghai, China, was diverted after the crew reported smoke on-board.

The plane landed safely. All two hundred and eighty-two passengers and sixteen crew members remained unharmed.

IrAero Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Fire Indication

IrAero flight IO-225 made an emergency landing in Barnaul, Russia, on June 18th.

The plane flying from Irkutsk, Russia, was descending toward Barnaul when the crew received an engine fire indication and declared an emergency.

The plane landed uneventfully. All eighty-five passengers and five crew members remained safe.

Angara Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Talakan Airport

Angara Airlines flight IK-9788 had to return and make an emergency landing at Talakan Airport, Russia, on September 30th.

The plane took off for Irkutsk, Russia, but had to turn back after one of the engines started emitting flames.

The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

The Antonov AN-14 en-route to Novosibirsk, Russia, had to return after the crew received the signal of its forward cargo hold’s open door.

The plane landed safely.

All the 60 passengers and 4 crew members remained safe.

BA Flight Diverts to Siberia due to Smoking Smartphone

britishairwaysBritish Airways flight BA18 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Irkutsk city of Siberia, Russia, on August 21.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, en-route from South Korea’s Incheon International Airport to London’s Heathrow airport, was diverted after a passengers’ smartphone began emitting smoke due to a ‘thermal runaway’.

The plane landed uneventfully. There were 205 passengers aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

The plane was able to resume its journey after 3 hours.

Virgin Atlantic Flight Carrying Tom Daley Made Emergency Landing in Russia

Virgin AtlanticVirgin Atlantic flight VS251 carrying Olympic diver Tom Daley and his team-mates including Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch, had to make an emergency landing at a military base in the Russian city of Irkutsk on July 21.

The decision to make an emergency landing occurred after a technical issue developed with the Airbus A346, after it departed from Pudong International Airport, China, at 11.40am. It was scheduled to land at London Heathrow at 4.34 p.m.

At first, the pilot decided to land in a river. He was eventually able to reach an airstrip at a Russian army camp. There were 283 passengers and 12 crew members aboard at the time of incident; all of them remained unhurt.

The airline later released a statement saying, “Virgin Atlantic can confirm that the VS251 travelling from Shanghai to London Heathrow has diverted to Irkutsk Airport, Russia, as a precautionary measure due to a technical issue…Safety and security is always our top priority…The aircraft is currently on the ground and our customers are being looked after by our cabin crew. Our priority now is to ensure our customers resume their journey as soon as possible…The airline would like to thank passengers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The English divers were returning after diving at the World Cup in Shanghai. They are also scheduled to participate in the upcoming Commonwealth Games at Glasgow 2014.
