Cessna Nails Emergency Landing on Florida Highway

What: single engine C172 en route from Gainesville to Destin
Where: U.S. Highway 98

Why: While en route, the engine began running rough. The pilot diverted to Tallahassee, but did not reach the airport. The pilot had to make an emergency landing on the highway due to a “mechanical failure” using car headlights to orient the landing.
