Air Canada Flight Returns to Montreal due to Engine Trouble


Air Canada flight AC017 had to return and make an emergency landing in Montreal, Canada, on March 25th.

The plane took off for Shanghai, China, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

The plane landed back uneventfully. All 213 passengers aboard remained safe.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Louisiana

A small plane made an emergency landing in a parking lot in LaPlace, St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana, on November 26.

Authorities said the plane, that took off from the Reserve airport, had to land in emergency due to engine trouble.

The plane landed safely on Belle Terre Boulevard and both occupants, including the pilot and a passenger, remained unhurt.

A small plane had to divert and make an emergency landing on Interstate-85 near Lexington, Davidson County, North Carolina, on November 16.

The plane, en-route from Dayton, Tennessee, to Silver City, New Mexico, had to divert due to an engine trouble.

The pilot tried to land at Davidson County Airport, but could not make it.

The plane landed safely. No one was injured.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Pennsylvania

A small Rockwell Commander plane had to make an emergency landing in a field in Penn Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania,tangerinefield on the afternoon of August 1st.

The two seater plane on a “sightseeing adventure” from Reading, Pennsylvania, had to be landed in emergency due to engine trouble.

The plane was destroyed. The 55 year-old woman and 47 year-old man aboard remained safe.

The FAA is investigating the incident.

Kitfox Plane Crashed in New Zealand; 2 Injured

A Kitfox plane crashed near Balclutha Aerodrome, New Zealand, on the afternoon of July 25.

The pilots noticed some engine trouble right after taking-off and decided to attempt an emergency landing, however, the plane crashed near the runway.

The plane’s owner, 46, who was a trainee, was flying the plane along with his flight instructor, 48.

Both men aboard sustained injuries and were airlifted to Dunedin Public Hospital.

New Zealand’s Civil Aviation Authority and the police will investigate.

Small Plane Makes Crash-Landing in NY Cornfield; Pilot Injured

A small plane made crash-landing in a cornfield in Milford town, New York on the morning of July 6.

The plane, travelling from Oneonta Municipal Airport in New York, had to be landed in emergency after it developed an engine problem.

The pilot, identified as Edward Schoene, 55, sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.

The FAA is investigating the accident.

British Airways Flight Diverts to Manchester Airport

British airwaysBritish Airways flight BA8703 had to make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport, United Kingdom, on June 17.

The plane was heading from Edinburgh to London City Airport when it had to divert to Manchester.

An airline spokesperson said, “We apologise to customers for the diversion of the BA8703 Edinburgh to London City service into Manchester… This was due to an engine bleed warning light that illuminated on the flight deck… Safety is always our first priority.”

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Washington County

A small plane made an emergency landing along Highway 555 in Washington County, Kentucky, on the afternoon of May 28.

The plane was flying from Bedford, Indiana to South Carolina when it developed some engine issues.

The pilot Robert Kinion then informed the FAA and made a safe emergency landing.

No injuries were reported.

United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in North Carolina

United airlinesUnited Airlines Flight 256 had to make an emergency landing at Piedmont Triad International Airport, North Carolina, in the evening of May 10.

Authorities said the plane, flying from San Francisco to Raleigh-Durham International Airport, North Carolina, was operating on one engine when it landed safely at Piedmont Triad Airport.

None of the 128 passengers aboard was harmed.

Piper Aircraft Crashes into Spokane River, Washington

A small Piper PA46 aircraft crashed into the Spokane River, Washington on the afternoon of May 7.

It is believed that the pilot was trying to make an emergency landing at the Felts Field, due to engine problems, but could not make it to the runway.

Both people aboard the plane were killed in the crash. They were identified as Richard Runyon and Lyndon Amestoy.

The cause of crash is being investigated.

Delta Flight Diverts to Charleston International Airport

deltaDelta flight 2028 made an emergency landing at Charleston International Airport in South Carolina on May 7.

The Boeing MD-88, flying from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Florida to LaGuardia Airport, New York, was diverted after it developed an engine problem and its cabin got filled with white smoke.

The plane landed safely. There were 89 passengers on-board at the time; none of them was hurt.

Detroit-Bound Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Tampa Airport

250px-Delta_logo.svg Delta Flight 1703 had to make an emergency landing at Tampa International Airport in Florida, on May 4.

According to the airline, the Boeing 737 was en-route from Tampa to Detroit when a “performance issue” in one of its two engines forced the pilot to turn around.

The plane landed uneventfully all 177 passengers aboard remained safe.

The airline provided a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

Delta Airlines Jet Returns to Buffalo due to Engine Issues

The plane, carrying 174 passengers and 5 crew members, took off for Atlanta, Georgia, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported possible fault in one of the two engines.

The plane landed safely and no one was harmed.

The aircraft was taken for examination.

Japan Airlines Flight Returns to Haneda Airport

Japan AirlinesJapan Airlines flight 521 made an emergency landing at Haneda airport in Tokyo, Japan, on April 8.

The twin-engine Boeing 777 was heading from Haneda to Hokkaido when the pilot reported a suspected engine fault and sought permission to land back.

Authorities said the aircraft’s right engine had to be shut down midair before it made a safe emergency landing.

All 228 passengers and 11 crew members remained unhurt.

Two Fighter Jets Make Emergency Landing in South Korea

Two F-16 jets made an emergency landing at Muan International Airport, South Korea, on April 7.

Air Force officials said the Kunsan Air Base fighter jets had to land in emergency after one of them experienced engine trouble. The jets departed from Gunsan Airport and were on a training flight over Jeolla-do when the malfunction was reported.

The planes landed safely.

The U.S. Forces Korea is investigating.

Air India Flight Returns to Newark Liberty International Airport

The airline confirmed the incident saying, “the flight had taken off for Mumbai at around 1650 hours (US time) and landed back at Newark (US) after being airborne for about two hours due to violent vibrations in one of the engines of the Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft.”

There were more than 250 people aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

Republic Airlines Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Bradley International Airport

Republic airlinesRepublic Airlines flight 3880 had to make an emergency landing at Bradley International Airport in Hartford County, Connecticut, on April 2.

The plane, heading from Newark, New Jersey, to Burlington, Vermont, had to be diverted after the pilot reported engine problems.

The plane landed uneventfully and all 71 passengers and 4 crew members remained unhurt.

The aircraft was taken for inspection while the airline arranged alternate transport for passengers.

U.S. Airways Flight Diverts to Houston due to Engine Malfunction

US Airways expressU.S. Airways Flight 5568 made an emergency landing at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston, Texas, on March 27.

Emergency was declared aboard the plane after it developed some engine issues. The flight, operated by Mesa Airlines, was en-route from Charlotte to Austin at the time.

The plane safely landed shortly after 6 p.m. None of the 83 people aboard was harmed.

An American Airlines official Matt Miller said, “Our mechanics are trying to determine if the plane is flyable and can continue to Austin.”

Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Hammonton

A helicopter had to make an emergency landing in a cranberry farm in Hammonton, New Jersey, on March 13.

According to the FAA, the helicopter belonging to Steel Pier helicopter rides had to land in emergency landing due to engine problems.

None of the 2 people aboard was injured in the incident.

The incident is under investigation.

Small planeA twin engine prop plane made an emergency landing near the 7900 block of Palmetto Park Road in West Boca Raton, Florida, on February 28.

Authorities said the plane was headed to Pompano Beach when it experienced engine problems and had to land in emergency.

According to Albert Borroto, the Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer, “The pilot did an excellent job landing on the canal bank, missing power lines and setting the aircraft down without hitting any surrounding populated areas and not injuring himself.”

The helicopter was en-route to the Plymouth airport when it began experiencing engine problems. The pilot then looked for an open space and landed in a park behind the Boys and Girls Clubs of Marshall County building. The aircraft sustained minor damage during landing.

Authorities said both occupants of the aircraft, including the 46-year-old pilot and his 66-year-old father, remained uninjured.

Passengers Escaped Unharmed after Their Helicopter Crashed in Bedfordshire

A helicopter crashed on a farm land near Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire, England, on February 25.

The helicopter, carrying the pilot and 2 female passengers, was en-route to Sussex when its engine malfunctioned. The pilot then decided to make an emergency landing on farm land however, the aircraft flipped over during landing.

According to Inspector Tracey Day, “I was very pleased when I got there to find three people with cuts and bruises, but everyone had walked away relatively unscathed.”

Delta Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Hilo

DeltaDelta Air Lines flight 1559 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Hilo, Hawaii, on February 12.

The airline confirmed that the Boeing 757 aircraft, heading from Los Angeles to Honolulu, had to be diverted after it experienced a mechanical problem in one of the two engines.

The plane, carrying 234 people, landed safely and no injuries were reported.

Another aircraft was arranged which took the passengers to their destination.

4 Dead as Plane Crashes in Miami-Dade County

smokeA small Beech 1900 aircraft crashed into trees near Miami Executive Airport, 12800 SW 145th Ave. in Miami-Dade County, Florida, at around 2:45 p.m. on February 11.

The 19-passenger plane, belonging to a Venezuelan company, went down after it took off from Miami Executive Airport for Providenciales International Airport, located in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Authorities said the pilot reported engine issues shortly after the take off. FAA spokesperson Kathleen Bergen said, “The pilot was attempting to return to the airport when the aircraft crashed.’’

There were 4 people aboard at the time of crash; all of them were killed. The pilot was identified as Captain Raul Chirivella, 52 while two of the three others were identified as Roberto Cavaniel and Juan Carlos Betancourt.

The aircraft broke apart and caught fire after the crash.

The police, the FAA and the NTSB are investigating.
