Small Plane Crashed in Bayonne, New Jersey; Pilot Injured

A Piper PA-28 plane crashed in a residential area in Bayonne, New Jersey, on February 19th.

The plane went down on Avenue E between 41st and 42nd streets, knocking out some power lines.

Saudi Arabian AirlinesSaudi Arabian Airlines flight SV-1794 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Abha Regional Airport, Abha, Asir, Saudi Arabia, on April 3rd.

The Airbus A320-200, en-route from Jazan to Dammam, was mid-air when it had to divert after the crew was reported that there had been fumes of light emitted from the food preparation area of the plane.

The plane landed uneventfully.

All passengers onboard remained unharmed.

The passengers were rebooked onto another flight.

Small Plane Crash-Lands in Hauppauge

A Cirrus SR22 plane crash-landed in an industrial park in Hauppauge, New York, on March 5th.

The plane was en-route to Republic Airport, Farmingdale, when it developed some engine issues. Authorities said the parachute attached to the plane deployed before it went down in a grassy area, just 8 miles east of Republic Airport.

The plane was carrying two people at the time, including the pilot Louis Obergh and his daughter, Rachel Obergh. Both of them suffered minor injuries. They were returning after visiting University of Rhode Island.

Pilot Feared Dead after F-16 Fighter Jet Crashes in Arizona

An F-16 fighter jet crashed in a remote area near Bagdad, Yavapai County, Arizona, on January 21.

The jet that took off from Luke Air Force Base near Phoenix, was carrying a student pilot from Taiwan when it went down. Authorities said the pilot was practicing air-to-air combat with an instructor as part of training.

According to Brig. Gen. Scott Pleus, commander of the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke, “All indications lead me to believe that the pilot did not survive the accident…But until we have 100 percent confirmation, we will continue search efforts.”

2 Feared Dead as Norwegian Postal Plane Crashes in Sweden

A Norwegian postal plane crashed in a remote mountainous area near the Akkajaure reservoir in Lapland region of northern Sweden, on January 8.

The Canadair CRJ 200 aircraft was carrying mail from Oslo to Tromso, Norway, when it went down. According to Daniel Lindblad, spokesman for the Swedish Maritime Administration, “They sent a very brief ‘mayday’ and then the plane disappeared from our radar. The weather conditions weren’t harsh.”

There were two people aboard the plane, including the 42-year-old captain and a 34-year-old first officer; both of them are feared dead.

The plane was being operated by West Atlantic.

Authorities said the Airbus 310 plane, operated by the cargo company Services Air, overshot the runway due to rainy weather and near-zero visibility before hitting several houses.

Two Injured as Helicopter Crashes in Sarasota County

A helicopter crashed near Kenisco Road in South Venice, Sarasota County. Florida, on December 1.

Authorities said the helicopter, that took off from Venice Regional Airport with a female student pilot and a male teacher on-board, made a rough landing in a heavily wooded area of Lemon Bay Preserve.

The student sustained facial/head injuries and was airlifted to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The teacher was taken to Venice Bayfront Health.

The FAA is investigating.
