Lufthansa Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cape Town

Lufthansa flight LH-577 had to return and make an emergency landing in Cape Town, South Africa, on August 10th.

The Airbus A340-300 plane took off for Frankfurt, Germany, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a gear problem.

The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Qantas Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cracked Windshield

Qantas Airways flight QF-63 made an emergency landing in Sydney, Australia, on August 4th.

The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for Johannesburg, South Africa, but had to turn back due to a cracked windshield.

The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Air Zimbabwe Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Loss of Cabin Pressure

Air Zimbabwe flight UM-467 had to divert for an emergency landing in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on July 10th.

The Boeing 737-200 plane heading from Harare, Zimbabwe, to Johannesburg, South Africa, was diverted due to loss of cabin pressure.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

TAP Portugal Plane Diverts to Africa due to Bird Ingestion

TAPTAP Portugal flight TP-1534 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Amílcar Cabral International Airport, Cape Verde, Africa, on July 28th.

The Airbus A320-200 flying from Praia to Lisbon, Portugal, had to divert due to bird ingestion by one of its engines.

The plane landed safely.

No one was injured.

SA Airlink Plane makes Safe Landing in South Africa after Engine Shut Down

AirlinkSA Airlink flight 4Z-8730/SA-8730 made a safe landing at O. R. Tambo International Airport, Gauteng, Johannesburg, South Africa, on May 18th.

The Avro RJ-85, en-route from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, was mid-air when one of its engines emitted a huge bang followed by streak of flames, prompting the crew to shut the engine down.

The plane landed successfully.

All people onboard remained unharmed.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in South Africa

A small plane made an emergency landing on the Lookout Beach in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, on March 24th.

According to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon, “On arrival on the scene a Cessna light aircraft was found to have made an emergency landing on the beach and it is believed that the light aircraft may have suffered engine failure while flying over Keurbooms Lagoon while on a pilot training flight from George Airport forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing on the beach.”

There were two people aboard, including the instructor pilot and trainee pilot; both of them remained unharmed.

The Civil Aviation Authority is investigating.

West Wind Aviation Plane makes Crash Landing near River Nile

west wind aviationA West Wind Aviation plane made a crash landing near River Nile, South Sudan, Africa, on November 10.

The Hawker Siddeley HS-780 Andover, en-route from Malakal to Wau, South Sudan, was flying on the behalf of United Nations’ World Food Programme to distribute food.

All 4 crew members survived the crash.

The aircraft was destroyed completely.
