While the upbeat “video below” compares basic features, the real world of aviation is focusing on a comparison of the problems noted.
- Airbus (350) had a “blockage in the drilling station and the knock-on effect hampering wing production” and problems with suppliers of A350 structural components. A350 also face the looming challenge of obtaining certification
- Boeing (787) which already graduated to the market, has demonstrated issues with 787’s lithium-ion batteries which use 10 times more power during initial start-up than other Boeings. In-flight monitoring made a demonstrable difference in reliability. A recent report estimates that 29 flights had been “saved” because of the 787’s extensive monitoring system
