Air France Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kuwait

Air France flight AF-218 made an emergency landing in Kuwait City, Kuwait, on December 4th.

The plane heading from Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, to Mumbai, India, was diverted due to smoke in the cabin.

The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

Etihad Airways Pilot Dies During Abu Dhabi-Amsterdam Flight

Etihad Airways flight EY-927 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Kuwait City, Kuwait, on September 27th.

The Boeing 777-200 freighter plane heading from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to Amsterdam, Netherlands, was diverted after the captain fell ill and became incapacitated.

The plane landed safely. The captain was pronounced dead.

AtlasGlobal Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kuwait City

AtlasGlobal flight KK-8850 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Kuwait City, Kuwait, on August 5th.

The Airbus A321-200 plane heading from Trabzon, Turkey, to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was diverted after it lost cabin pressure.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Eurowings Flight Diverts to Kuwait City due to Bomb Threat

Eurowings flight 117 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Kuwait City, Kuwait, on January 15th.

The plane heading from Salalah, Oman, to Cologne, Germany, was diverted due to a bomb threat.

The plane landed safely. There were 299 passengers aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

The authorities confirmed that no explosives were found upon inspection.

Iraqi Airways Flight Diverts to Kuwait City

Iraqi AirwaysIraqi Airways flight IA-443 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Kuwait City, Kuwait, on July 31st.

The plane heading from Basra, Iraq, to New Delhi, India, was diverted due to an engine malfunction.

The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Air Berlin Plane Diverts to Kuwait due to Electronic Problems

air berlinAir Berlin flight AB-7495 made an emergency landing in Kuwait, on April 20th.

The plane, heading from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to Berlin, Germany, had to be diverted due to electronic problems.

The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Emirates Airbus Diverts to Kuwait after engine shut down

On Oct 25, an Emirates Airlines Airbus A380 en route from New York to Dubai had to shut down a right engine.

Pilots diverted to Kuwait where they made a safe landing.

A replacement airbus was provided to carry the passengers to Dubai. We don’t have information how long passengers waited or if they were provided accommodations during the interim.

What: Kuwait Airways Airbus 340-300 en route from Kuwait City (Kuwait) to London Heathrow
Where: Kuwait
When: Dec 6th 2010
Why: On takeoff from Kuwait City, the plane could not retract the landing gear. According to Al Abdulkarim, the procedure was routine, not an emergency. The crew returned to the airport, made a safe landing, and the problem was promptly repaired. The problem was apparently in the indicator, not the plane. After the warning light was repaired, the flight took off again within hours.

This is the third time in two months that Kuwait Airways made an emergency landing after take-off.

What: Kuwait Airways Airbus A300-600 en route from Kuwait City (Kuwait) to Dhaka (Bangladesh)
Where: Kuwait
When: Nov 10th 2010
Who: 226 passengers and 12 crew
Why: Just after takeoff, smoke was reported in the cabin. The plane returned to the airport and made a safe landing.

Passengers evacuated using emergency slides. Several passengers and a crew member were injured during evacuation.

What: Kuwait Airways Airbus A300-600 en route from Kuwait City to Dhaka
Where: Kuwait
When: Oct 23rd 2010
Why: After takeoff, the windshield developed a crack. The pilot returned to Kuwait and made a safe landing.

Conflicting reports:
According to Mohammed Bursali, Public Relations Director of Kuwait Airways, The windshield was replaced and the flight resumed an hour later. However, a replacement jet arrived four hours later to resume the flight.

What: Biman Bangladesh Airbus A310-300 en route from Kuwait to Dhaka Bangladesh
Where: Kuwait
When: Oct 14 2010
Who: 229 passengers
Why: During take-off, an indicator displayed that a cargo door was open, so the take-off was aborted; braking caught the wheels on fire. The plane was evacuated, with no injuries.

Where: Kuwait

Who: 259 passengers
Why: On approach to Kuwait City, the plane indicated a fire and emergency services were deployed. However on landing, there was no fire.
The report was due to a faulty fire indicator on the wheel well.
