Emirates Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dubai

Emirates flight EK-261 had to return and make an emergency landing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on December 16th.

The Airbus A380-800 plane took off for Sao Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport, Brazil, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Emirates Plane Returns to Dubai due to Engine Problem

Emirates Airlines flight EK-97 had to return and make an emergency landing at Dubai International Airport, Dubai, UAE, on December 25th.

The Airbus A380-800, en-route to Rome, Italy, was mid-air above Iran when the crew reported problems with the right hand engine, prompting it to return.

The plane landed uneventfully. All people onboard remained unharmed.

The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

Singapore Airlines Plane Diverts to Dubai after Engine Issue

Singapore airlinesSingapore Airlines flight SQ-336 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Dubai International Airport, UAE, on November 29.

The Airbus A380-800 flying from Singapore to Paris, France, had to divert due to some issue with one of its engines.

The plane landed safely.

No injuries were reported.

Emirates Airlines Plane Makes Safe Landing in Dubai

EmiratesEmirates Airlines flight EK-58 made a safe landing at Dubai International Airport, Dubai, UAE, on September 18th.

The Airbus A380-800 was on approach to Dubai from Dusseldorf, Germany, when the crew had to shut one of its engines down mid-air.

The plane landed safely.

All passengers and crew members aboard remained unhurt.

Air China Plane makes Safe Landing in Dubai after Nose Wheel Steering Problem

Air ChinaAir China flight CA-941 made a safe emergency landing at Dubai International Airport, Dubai, UAE, on July 5th.

The Airbus A330-200, en-route from Beijing, China, was on approach to Dubai when the crew reported they would not be able to employ its nose wheel steering.

The plane landed successfully. It was towed off the runway.

All people onboard remained unharmed.

The Boeing 777-300 plane, flying from Manchester, England, declared emergency after the crew reported that pilot vision was impaired.

TUI Airlines Netherlands Returns to UAE after Flaps Problem

TUIflyTUI Airlines Netherlands flight OR-410 had to return and make an emergency landing at Al- Maktoum International Airport, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on June 4th.

The Boeing 737-800, en-route to Amsterdam, Netherlands, was mid-air when the crew encountered flaps problem, prompting the plane to return.

The plane landed uneventfully. All people onboard remained unharmed.

The passengers were rebooked onto other flights.

Emirates Plane Returns to Dubai Due to Hydraulic Failure

EmiratesEmirates Airlines flight EK-703 had to return and make an emergency landing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on May 4th.

The Airbus A380-800 took off for Mauritius but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a hydraulic failure.

The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

Kuwait Airways Flight Diverts to Al Maktoum International Airport

Kuwait airwaysKuwait Airways flight KU-361 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai, on July 7.

The plane was en-route from Kuwait to Colombo in Sri Lanka, when the pilot detected a technical problem in one of the engines and decided to divert.

The Airbus A300-600 landed uneventfully.

The passengers were later accommodated in a replacement plane.

What: United Parcel Service Boeing 747-400 cargo plane en route from Dubai to Cologne
Where: Dubai inside an Emirati air base between Dubai’s Emirates Highway and nearby Al-Ain Road 10 miles southeast of Dubai’s international airport
When: September 3 2010, noon New York time
Who: Two pilots
Why: After takeoff, the pilots declared an emergency over Bahrain airspace, with a cockpit fire. The pilots dumped fuel and immediately attempted to return to the airport, unable to see their instruments due to the smoke. The plane crashed, and both pilots were killed. The crew reported fire on board as they were approaching the airport. Witnesses report hearing a boom, and seeing fire and smoke.

A UPS cargo plane has been involved in an accident in Dubai.
Updated 6:30 PM EDT

At approximately noon EDT on Friday, Sept. 3, UPS received a report that one of its cargo aircraft had crashed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. UPS can confirm that Flight 6, a 747-400, took off from Dubai at approximately 1500 Zulu, bound for Cologne, Germany. UPS records indicate that two UPS employees were aboard. There are no known survivors.

“This is a terrible tragedy and all of us at UPS extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims,” said Scott Davis, UPS’s chairman and CEO. “We are doing our best to learn exactly what happened.”
UPS is aware of news reports concerning possible events that led to the incident, but we are unable to confirm these reports. UPS Airlines is cooperating with government authorities on the scene, and we have dispatched our own investigation team to the site to assist.

The safety and security of our employees and our customers and the public are our highest priorities. We will not rest until a determination has been made concerning the causes and implications of this tragedy.
We will release more information as it becomes available, in cooperation with government authorities. Until then, we ask for your patience in this difficult time.
