Latam Airlines flight JJ-3527 had to return and make an emergency landing in Porto Velho, Brazil, on June 5th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane, en-route to Brasilia, Brazil, had to turn back after one of the engines ingested a bird, resulting in severe engine vibrations and noises.
The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.
Azul Brazilian Airlines flight AD-6970 had to return and make an emergency landing at Recife/Guararapes–Gilberto Freyre International Airport, Brazil, on May 31st.
The Airbus A330-200, flying to Sao Paulo Viracopos, Brazil, had to return due to a strong smell of smoke on board.
The plane landed safely.
No one was injured.

Iberia Airlines flight IB-6012 had to make an emergency landing in Fortaleza, Brazil, on April 16th.
The Airbus A330-200 was en-route from Montevideo, Uruguay, to Madrid, Spain, when the crew reported smoke in the cabin and requested an emergency landing.
The plane landed safely. All 253 passengers remained unhurt.

TAM Linhas Aereas flight JJ-3517 had to return and make an emergency landing at Deputado Luis Eduardo Magalhaes International Airport, Salvador da Bahia, Brazil on April 1st.
The Airbus A321-200, en-route from Salvador to Brasilia, was climbing out of runway when one of the plane’s engines ingested a bird, prompting the plane to return.
The plane landed safely.
All 108 passengers onboard remained unharmed.

On January 18, 2016, a TAM Linhas Aereas Airbus A320-200 was on a scheduled flight from Brasilia to Aracaju Brazil when the pilots decided to return to Brasilia. They made a safe landing and were in the air ten minutes short of an hour. Incident investigations always take time. So it was a couple weeks later, on Feb 5th when the BEA reported this notice. (Note that the BEA is Le Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses pour la Sécurité de l’Aviation, France’s Governmental aviation authority.) The BEA reported Brazil’s CENIPA notice why the pilots decided to return.
The Airbus was climbing. Cabin crew told the flight crew that passengers and cabin crew were suffering from significant hypoxia. Hypoxia means inadequate oxygenation of the blood, or deficiency in the amount of oxygen delivered to the body tissues. Web MD says this about hypoxia:
“When your body doesn’t have enough oxygen, you could get hypoxemia or hypoxia. These are dangerous conditions. Without oxygen, your brain, liver, and other organs can be damaged just minutes after symptoms start.”
“Hypoxemia (low oxygen in your blood) can cause hypoxia (low oxygen in your tissues) when your blood doesn’t carry enough oxygen to your tissues to meet your body’s needs. The word hypoxia is sometimes used to describe both problems. Symptoms can vary from person to person, the most common hypoxia symptoms are Changes in the color of your skin, ranging from blue to cherry red, Confusion,Cough, Fast heart rate, Rapid breathing, Shortness of breath, Sweating, Wheezing. If you have symptoms of hypoxia, call 911.”
On the Tam flight in question, the flight crew manually released the passenger oxygen masks. After returning to Brasilia, the incident was rated serious. CENIPA is investigating. CENIPA’s acronym is in Portuguese: Centro de Investigação e Prevenção de Acidentes Aeronáuticos. CENIPA is a unit of the Brazilian Air Force that investigates aviation accidents and incidents in Brazil.
The flight under investigation was JJ-3538 flown by the Airbus registered as #PR-MAA on a standard flight from Brasilia,DF to Aracaju, SE in Brazil.

American Airlines flight AA904 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Brasillia, Brazil, on January 29.
The plane, heading from Rio de Janeiro to Miami, Florida, was diverted after four people, including a passengers and three crew members, complained of lightheadedness.
The plane landed uneventfully. The airline said the sick passenger and crew members were examined by paramedics but none of them requested further medical care.
Gol Linhas Aéreas flight G3-1253 had to return and make a safe landing at Sen. Petronio Portella Airport, Teresina, Piaui, Brazil, on December 12.
The Boeing 737-800 was en-route to Brasilia, Brazil, when the crew encountered some problem with its engine and returned to Teresina for a safe landing.
Unspecified mechanical problems led to a small single-engine Cessna to make ??a forced landing May 21 at Colonel Altino Machado Airport in Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Only the pilot and co-pilot were aboard, and neither sustained injury in the belly landing. The landing gear failed. The fire department was called.
TAM airlines changed the number of flight JJ3720 after a renowned clairvoyant Jucelino Nobrega da Luz predicted that a plane having this number would crash.
Jucelino Nobrega da Luz told the officials that flight JJ3720, scheduled to take off from Sao Paulo to Brasilia on Wednesday, would crash on the main Paulista drag of Sao Paulo due to engine problems. He says he had also predicted the deaths of Brazilian racer Ayrton Senna and Princess Diana.
TAM airlines authorities considered it an “indispensable information”, and changed the flight number to JJ4732.

Brazilian presidential candidate Eduardo Campos, 49, has been confirmed dead after his campaign plane, a Cessna 560XL, plunged into a residential neighbourhood in the port city of Santos, Brazil, on August 13.
According to the authorities, the 12-seater plane could not land in Guaruja due to bad weather after which, the air traffic control lost contact with it. It then crashed near a gym in a residential area of Santos, sending smoke clouds in the air.
City Hall press officer Patricia Fagueiro confirmed that all 7 people aboard the plane, including Eduardo Campos, 2 pilots, a press advisor and campaign photographer, died in the crash.
It is not yet clear if anyone on the ground was injured in the crash.
President Dilma Rousseff said in a statement, “The whole of Brazil is in mourning.”

A single-engine Embraer-720C plane crashed into a house in Balsas, Maranhao state, in northeastern Brazil, at about 6:19 a.m. on August 3.
The plane was transporting an elderly sick lady and her relatives to a hospital when it crashed.
All five people aboard the plane were killed. The victims included the pilot, Delano Martins Coelho, 36, his fiancée and nurse, Lorena Alves de Lima, 22, an 87 year old sick lady Maria de Jesus Cruz e Silva who was being shifted from a hospital in Balsas to another in Piaui, her daughter, Francisca Pereira e Silva and one of her grandsons, Alan Patrick Silva Setulvedo.
The house hit by the plane was occupied by three people. However, none of them was hurt.
Ex-Brazilian football hero, Fernando Lucio da Costa, 36, who led Internacional to Copa Libertadores and World Club Cup victories in 2006, died in a helicopter crash in central Brazil on June 7.
The helicopter had five people on board at the time of crash and none of them survived.
Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff said on Twitter, “I am saddened by the death of Fernandão, a hero to all Internacional fans and all lovers of football….On the field he was world champion, off the field he was an example of a man of character.”
Fernandao played for the Porto Alegre club 190 times and scored 77 goals.
An Aero Designs Super Pulsar 100 kit plane with only the pilot aboard was flying over Amercana São Paulo, Brazil when it crashed on farmland bordering between Americana and Nova Odessa. The impact was close to Americana Municipal Airport where the pilot had just taken off from, en route to Guaratinguetá, São Paulo. The pilot was businessman Claito Finger, who died on impact. The kit plane crash will be investigated by the police. The pilot’s remains were taken to Instituto Médico Legal.
