Air China Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Belarus

Air China flight CA-840 made an emergency landing in Minsk, Belarus, on June 19th.

The Airbus A330-200 plane heading from Barcelona, Spain, to Shanghai, China, was diverted after the crew suspected a fuel leak.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Belavia Flight Returns to Belarus After Bird Strike

Belavia Belarusian Airlines flight B2-945 had to return and make an emergency landing in Minsk, Belarus, on March 19th.

The Boeing 737-500 plane took off for St. Petersburg, Russia, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a bird strike.

The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

Cathay Pacific Plane Diverts to Belarus due to Fuel Leakage

Cathay PacificCathay Pacific flight CX-270 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Minsk National Airport, Belarus, on July 11th.

The Boeing 777-300, flying from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Hong Kong, China, had to divert due to possible fuel leakage at one of its engines.

The plane landed safely.

No one was injured.

Official Czech Airbus Glass Cracks


A Czech Air Force Airbus A319-115X CJ was en route in Belarus when the cockpit glass cracked—just the front top cover glass The Airbus was on an official flight with prime minister Petr Ne?as and minister of industry Martin Kuba aboard.

Pilots had to descend to a safe altitude and continued to Moscow.

Journalists Die in Belarus Chopper Crash

What: Belarusian Eurocopter AS 355NP Ecureuil II AS355 NP border patrol helicopter
Where: Lithuanian border about 800 metres from Vileity
When: October 20 2011, 3:45 p.m
Who: 5 fatalities
Why: Three journalists, Vitaly Prochkovsky, 36; Sergei Shamalov, 39; and Yulia Shaternik, 28 died working on a report about border security for Union, a Belarus television and radio company. Pilots Igor Skvortsov and Andrew Pekarsky also died in in the crash. The chopper circled a house, and fell out of the sky. The Twin Squirrel helicopter they were on crashed for an unknown reason. Forester Elena Kirplyuk witnessed the crash. Crash site specialists converged on the scene. An investigation is underway.

Belavia Diverts to Belarus

What: Belavia Boeing 737-500 en route from Batumi Georgia to Minsk Belarus
Where: Sochi
When: Aug 12th 2011
Why: While en route to Belarus, the plane lost cabin pressure. The cabin was not sealed.

THe pilots descended to a safe level, and then obtained permission to divert to Sochi. The pilots made a safe landing in Sochi with emergency services on standby. No injuries were reported.

A replacement 737 was provided.

What: Austrian Airlines Fokker 100 en route from Vienna to Minsk
Where: Minsk
When: Nov 29th 2010, 02:39
Who: 81 passengers, 4 crew
Why: On landing in Minsk Belarus, the crew reported an unsafe indication, later determined to be caused by a fauly sensor.The crew made an accommodation and made a safe landing. No injuries were reported.

What: Polish Border Guard PZL Kania
Where: near Polish-Belarusian border
When: OCT 31, 2009
Who: 3 fatalities
Why: While on a routine border patrol, a pilot and two border guards lost contact. Klukowicze villagers sent out a search party after hearing a crash, but the search was hampered by fog.

Saturday, following the scent of fuel, the wreckage was found 600 ft into Belarusian territory. The helicopter was totaled.
