Small Plane Crashed in Orleans County, New York

A small plane crashed in a wooded area in Gaines, Orleans County, New York, on August 23rd.

The plane had just taken off from Gaines Valley Aviation Airport when it experienced a mechanical problem and went down.

The pilot, Earl Luce Jr., 64, of Brockport, was the only one aboard. He remained uninjured.

Turkish Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Washington Dulles International Airport

Turkish Airlines flight TK-183 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, on February 23rd.

The Airbus A330-200 plane heading from Istanbul, Turkey, to Havana, Cuba, was diverted due to a mechanical problem.

The plane landed safely. There were 173 passengers and 13 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing on U.S. 31 in Indiana

A small plane made an emergency landing at U.S. Highway 31 in Howard County, Indiana, on January 31st.

The plane flying from Brownsburg, Indiana, was forced to land on the highway due to a mechanical issue.

No injuries were reported.

The incident is being investigated.

Airbus Loses Control in Montreal

When: Apr 14th 2009
Why: After reporting problems to air traffic control and returning to Montreal, on final approach to runway 06L the crew experienced “severe mechanical turbulence” and momentarily lost control of the plane. However, the plane landed safely; and shortly afterwards, the passengers were off to their destination–on board another Airbus.

*Mechanical turbulence is turbulence around buildings, wind eddies not caused by thermal means.
