JetBlue Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Bermuda

JetBlueA JetBlue flight had to divert and make an emergency landing at LF Wade International Airport in Bermuda, on August 26th.

The incident happened when the Airbus A320, carrying 94 people, was heading from Boston to Puerto Rico.

According to a Department of Marine and Port Services report, “A 51-year-old female passenger was experiencing oxygen tank problems and required assistance while the aircraft crew reported mechanical problems with the cockpit floor suffering distortion suspected to be caused by heat.”

The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Birmingham-Bound American Airlines Plane Diverts to Canada

American AirlinesAmerican Airlines flight AA130 made an emergency landing in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada, on August 24.

It is believed that the plane was diverted after cabin lights went off due to generator malfunction. According to the airline, “American Airlines Flight 130 travelling from New York John F. Kennedy Airport to Birmingham International Airport, UK diverted to Gander, Newfoundland due to the cockpit crew reporting a mechanical issue. An emergency landing was declared due to the aircraft being overweight, landing without incident at 23.45 local time.”

All 148 passengers remained unharmed.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Ontario

A small plane had to make an emergency landing on a private airstrip in Grey Highlands, Ontario, Canada, at around 1:44 P.M. on August 16th.

The plane, en-route to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, Ontario, from Brampton, Ontario, had to make an emergency landing due to mechanical failure.

The airplane dug into the ground, damaging its nose.

The pilot and his only passenger remained unhurt.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Indiana County River

Small planeA single-engine plane had to make an emergency landing in Kiskiminetas River, near Saltsburg, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, on August 23.

Authorities said the pilot decided to make an emergency landing after the aircraft developed mechanical problems and started losing fuel pressure.

The pilot remained unhurt and was able to swim to the shore.

The plane was taken to shore with the help of crane.

Colombian Police Helicopter Crashed in Dense Forest; 15 Killed, 2 Injured

helicoptersaopA Black Hawk helicopter crashed in dense forest near Gulf of Uraba, Colombia, on August 4.

Authorities suspect the helicopter, carrying 17 Colombian police officers, crashed due mechanical failure. The officers were going to the Gulf of Uraba for an important operation at the time.

Fifteen police officers died while another 2 sustained severe burns in the crash.

The accident is being investigated.

American Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Indiana

American AirlinesAmerican Airlines flight 1277 had to make an emergency landing in Indianapolis, Indiana, at around 9:15 P.M. on July 28.

The plane was heading from O’Hare International Airport, Illinois, to Charlotte, North Carolina, when the pilot declared emergency due to “indication of a mechanical issue.”

The plane landed safely and was cleared to resume the flight after inspection.  

All passengers and crew members remained unhurt. Charles Tillman, former Chicago Bears player, was also aboard at the time.

Small Plane Crashed into Chautauqua County Woods; Pilot Injured

A small plane crashed into woods near Waite Road in Sheridan, Chautauqua County, New York, at 11:30 A.M. on July 16.

The single-engine Cessna 162 crashed while the pilot was trying to return to Chautauqua County/Dunkirk Airport, New York, after facing some mechanical issue.

The pilot, identified as Francis Emmerling, 66, was taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. It is believed that Emmerling was the only person aboard.

The FAA and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.

Delta Air Lines Flight Diverts to Norfolk International Airport

DeltaDelta Air Lines Flight 546 had to make an emergency landing at Norfolk International Airport, Virginia at 3:10 P.M. on July 5.

The Boeing 737 was heading towards John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, from Dominican Republic, when the pilots received warning of a possible mechanical issue in one of the engines and decided to land as a precaution.

The plane landed uneventfully.

All 131 passengers and 6 crew members aboard remained safe and were accommodated in a replacement flight.

Los Angeles Dodgers’ Plane Diverts to LAX due to Mechanical Issues

United airlinesUnited Airlines Flight 2207 had to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on June 14.

The plane, carrying the Los Angeles Dodgers, was heading from San Diego International Airport to Dallas, Texas, when it experienced a mechanical issue and had to be diverted to LAX.

The plane landed uneventfully. All 176 people aboard remained unharmed.

The airline arranged a replacement plane for the team members.

Pilot Injured after Crop-Dusting Plane Makes Hard Landing in Polson

A crop-dusting plane crashed in the Irvine Flats area near Polson, Montana, on May 26.

According to Lake County Sheriff Don Bell, the single-engine plane crashed while the pilot was attempting to make an emergency landing due to mechanical issues. The aircraft’s landing gear sustained damage during landing and it skidded before coming to a stop.

The pilot sustained minor injuries in the incident and was taken to Providence Medical Center in Polson.

The FAA is investigating.

Delta Airlines Flight Returns to LAX due to Mechanical Issues

DeltaDelta Airlines flight 1471A had to return and make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on May 17.

The plane took off for Atlanta, Georgia but had to return shortly afterwards, due to mechanical issues.

The plane, carrying over 200 people, landed safely. No injuries were reported.

The airline arranged an alternate aircraft for passengers.

Foreign Dignitaries Killed as Military Helicopter Crashed in Pakistan

A Military helicopter crashed into a school in Naltar, near Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, on May 8.

The Mi-17 helicopter was transporting foreign dignitaries to the inauguration ceremony of a ski resort chairlift when it crashed and caught fire. Initial investigations reveal that the accident happened due to a mechanical fault in the helicopter.

There were 17 people aboard the aircraft at the time of the crash. Authorities confirmed that seven of them, including the Norwegian envoy Leif H Larsen, the Philippines ambassador Domingo D Lucenario, the wives of the Indonesian and Malaysian envoys, 2 Pakistan Air Force pilots and one technician, were killed.

Others, including the Dutch and Polish ambassadors, were injured and were airlifted to a local military hospital.

Single-Engine Plane Makes Emergency Landing on La Quinta Golf Course

A small plane made an emergency landing on a golf course at 80200 block of Via Valerosa, La Quinta, California, on April 17.

Authorities said the single-engine Piper aircraft flipped over during landing.

According to a press release issued by the sheriff’s department, “It appears the plane experienced mechanical failure causing the pilot to conduct an emergency landing on the golf course… The pilot was the only occupant inside the plane and no one was injured during this incident.”

The FAA is investigating the incident.

Private Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing Off Coast of Taylors Island

SeaA private helicopter made an emergency landing into the water off of Taylor’s Island, Maryland, on March 25.

Authorities said the helicopter apparently experienced a mechanical issue, after which, the pilot radioed a distress call and made a hard landing in around 4 feet of water.

There were 2 people aboard at the time, including the pilot Vincent T. Giglio, 45, of New Jersey, and his passenger, Ronald F. Lopes, 61, of New York; both of them remained unharmed.

Small Plane Lands in Emergency at Clay County Road

A small plane made an emergency landing at County Highway 11, north of Highway 34, near Felton, Minnesota, on the afternoon of March 14.

According to Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist, the plane was apparently experiencing a mechanical issue.

None of the 2 people aboard was harmed in the incident.

The aircraft was later towed away from the road.

Small Plane Crashes Near Bixby; No Injuries Reported

Small planeA small plane crashed into a field near 151st Street and 161st East Avenue, near Bixby, Oklahoma, at around 11:15 a.m. on March 6.

The plane went down while the pilot was attempting an emergency landing due to mechanical issues.

The pilot, identified as Alex Rabbitt, 19, and his only passenger were able to escape unharmed.

The accident is under investigation.

JetBlue Flight Lands in Emergency at LAX

jetBlueJetBlue flight 1521 made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on February 25.

The incident happened when the flight was en-route from Portland, Oregon, to Long Beach, California.

According to Ian Gregor, spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane “landed without incident at 5:40 after reporting some kind of mechanical issue.”

JetBlue spokesperson Victoria Buckley confirmed the incident, saying that the flight was diverted “out of an abundance of caution.”

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Former Edmonton City Centre Airport

snowA small plane made an emergency landing at a closed airport in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on the afternoon of February 21.

Edmonton authorities confirmed that the 2-seater glider plane had to make a hard landing at Edmonton City Centre Airport, due to mechanical issues.

The pilot, who was the only one aboard remained unharmed however, the aircraft sustained heavy damage.

The incident is being investigated by the Transportation Safety Board.

The airport operations were shut down in 2013 for residential development in the city centre.

Small Plane Lands in Emergency on New Jersey Highway

CessnaA Cessna C150 made an emergency landing on Route 23 near Doremus and Paradise roads in West Milford, New Jersey, shortly before 1 p.m. on January 29.

The plane, flying from Orange County Airport in New York to Lincoln Park airport in Morris County, New Jersey, had to land in emergency after it developed some mechanical issues.

The single-engine aircraft made an uneventful landing. The pilot Christopher Okechukwu, 51, of Paramus, remained unharmed. The authorities confirmed that he was the only one aboard at the time.

No vehicles were damaged during the landing.

The incident is under investigation.

Minneapolis-Bound Delta Flight Returns to LAX

The Boeing 757 took off for Minneapolis at about 8:30 a.m. but had to turn back shortly afterwards due to a mechanical issue.

The plane landed safely after shedding off extra fuel. All 146 passengers and 6 crew members aboard remained unharmed.

The airline later said in a statement, “The crew of Delta flight 2116 from Los Angeles to Minneapolis/St. Paul followed procedures to return to Los Angeles International after a potential systems issue was observed. The aircraft landed safely without incident and taxied to the gate under its own power. Delta is currently working to accommodate customers while technicians examine the aircraft. Safety is always Delta’s top priority and apologizes to customers for the inconvenience.”

United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at LAX

United airlinesUnited Airlines flight 401 had to make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on January 11.

The Airbus A319, travelling from Denver, Colorado, declared emergency due to a suspected mechanical problem.

The plane landed uneventfully and all 120 passengers aboard remained unharmed.

The nature of mechanical problem is not clear at the moment.

Atlanta-Bound Delta Jet Returns to GSP

Airport spokesperson Rosylin Weston said the plane departed for Atlanta, Georgia, at 10:17 a.m. but had to turn back due to a mechanical problem.

The plane landed uneventfully at 10:24 a.m. All 46 passengers aboard remained unharmed.

United Airlines Flight Returns to Washington Dulles International Airport

The Boeing 757 departed for San Francisco International Airport at around 6:30 p.m., but was forced to turn back due to a mechanical issue.

The plane, carrying 151 passengers and 6 crew members, landed uneventfully. No one was injured.

An airline official said, “Our maintenance team is currently inspecting the aircraft, and we will accommodate passengers to San Francisco later this evening.”

Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Aquebogue Sod Farm

A homemade Mosquito ultralight helicopter made an emergency landing on a sod farm in Aquebogue, New York, on the afternoon of November 9.

The incident happened after the aircraft developed mechanical issues.

According to the police, the pilot was found unconscious near the helicopter and was taken to hospital. He was later identified as Erwin Rodger, 71, of Mattituck.

The FAA is investigating.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing near Henderson Executive Airport

XTR330An XTR330 aircraft made an emergency landing on Volunteer Boulevard near Henderson Executive Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada, shortly after 11:45 a.m. on November 5.

The pilot of the aircraft, operated by Sky Combat Ace, reported mechanical issues shortly after taking off at 11:15 a.m. and declared emergency.

The plane landed with only minor damage. There were 2 people aboard at the time of incident; none of them was injured.

Sky Combat Ace and the NTSB are looking into the cause of incident.
