Air France Flight Diverts to Salt Lake City Due to Bomb Threat

Air FranceAir France flight AF065 made an emergency landing in Salt Lake City, Utah, on November 17.

Authorities said the flight, en-route from Los Angeles to Paris, was diverted due to a bomb threat.

The plane landed safely. None of the 497 passengers and crew members were harmed.

The airline said, “Local authorities are carrying out complete inspections of the aircraft, the passengers and their luggage. An investigation will be led by the authorities to identify the source of the telephone call.”

Air France Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Nova Scotia

Air FranceAir France flight AF55 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia, Canada, on November 17.

The plane was en-route from Washington, D.C. to Paris when the authorities received an anonymous bomb threat and decided to divert.

Emergency was declared after authorities received a phone call that claimed there was a bomb in the plane. The flight was flying from Oslo, Norway to Istanbul, Turkey at the time.

The plane landed safely and everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Authorities confirmed that no explosive device was found on inspection.

The Airbus 330-300 had to be diverted due to a disruptive woman passenger, identified as Jeane T., who first complained of sickness and then informed the crew about a bomb in the plane.

The plane en-route from Dubai, UAE, was transporting 430 passengers and 12 crew members to Manila, Philippines, at the time.

The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained safe.

The plane was cleared to depart after security clearance while the woman was handed over to the Philippines Embassy in India.

Turkish Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Poland

Turkish airlinesTurkish Airlines flight TK-79 had to make an emergency landing at Warsaw Chopin Airport, Warsaw, Poland, at around 3:50 P.M. on July 30.

The Boeing 777-300, heading from Istanbul Atatürk Airport, Turkey, to San Francisco, California, had to be landed in emergency due to an unclaimed mobile phone found in the cabin.

The plane landed safely and all 332 people aboard remained unhurt.

The journey continued after security clearance.

Jet Airways Plane Diverts to Oman after Bomb Threat

Jet AirwaysJet Airways flight 9W-536 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Muscat International Airport, Oman, on the afternoon of July 9.

The plane, en-route to Dubai from Mumbai, had to be landed in emergency after Air Traffic Controllers alerted the pilot about a bomb threat.

A Jet Airways spokesperson Manish Kalghatgi confirmed, “There was a bomb threat on the flight. It was a serious threat prompting the pilot to land at the closest airport.”

The plane landed uneventfully and all 54 passengers and 7 crew members remained safe. The flight continued after security clearance.

Turkish Airlines Airbus Diverts to Dehli after Bomb Threat

The Airbus 330 was heading towards Istanbul, Turkey, from Bangkok, Thailand, when it had to be diverted due to a bomb threat. According to reports, the crew had found a statement written with lipstick on toilet mirror saying, “Bomb in Cargo Hold.”

The plane, carrying 148 people, landed uneventfully. Civil Aviation spokesperson R.N. Choubey confirmed no bomb was found in the plane.

‘Suspicious Bag’ Prompts Turkish Airlines Emergency Landing in Copenhagen

Turkish airlinesA Turkish Airlines jet had to make an emergency landing at Copenhagen Airport, Denmark, on June 25.

The Boeing 777-300ER was en-route from Istanbul to New York when it had to be diverted due to a suspicious old bag.

The plane landed safely and none of the 292 passengers was harmed.

Bomb squad thoroughly inspected the bag but nothing suspicious was found. Authorities believe it was an old camera bag possibly left behind by a previous passenger.

Lufthansa Flight Returns to Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport

LufthansaLufthansa flight LH-1305 had to return and make an emergency landing at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 10.

According to the airline, the plane, heading from Istanbul to Frankfurt, was turned back after the crew members noticed an unusual sound in the cargo hold. However, some media sources reported that emergency was declared due to a bomb warning.

The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained unharmed.

According to Michael Lamberti, of Lufthansa, “When the plane touched down, it was discovered that one part of the cargo compartment was not secured well.”

The flight resumed after some time.

Air Arabia Flight Diverted to Al- Minhad Airbase after Bomb Threat

Air ArabiaAir Arabia flight G9128 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Al- Minhad Airbase, Dubai, on May 3.

The plane, en-route from Kuwait to Sharjah, had to be diverted after a passenger said it was about to explode.

The airline confirmed that “[the] flight landed safely and the authorities are currently holding the necessary investigation.”

Batik Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Bomb Threat

A Batik Air flight had to make an emergency landing in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, on April 17.

Batik AirThe flight was en-route from Ambon in Maliki, to Jakarta, when it had to land in emergency due to a bomb threat.

The plane landed safely at Sultan Hasanuddin airport and all 125 passengers and 8 crew members aboard remained unharmed.

The airline confirmed that no explosive device was found in the plane.

Bomb Threat Prompts Evacuation of Germanwings Plane

GermanwingsA Germanwings Airbus A320 had to be evacuated at Cologne/Bonn airport in Germany, on April 12.

The airline said Milan-bound flight 4U 826 was taxiing to the runway when the air traffic tower asked the pilot to abort the flight due to a bomb threat.

All 132 people aboard were evacuated safely. The airline confirmed that the plane was thoroughly searched but not explosive device was found.

An alternate aircraft was arranged for the passengers.

Turkish Airlines Flight Returns to Istanbul after Bomb Threat

The flight took off for Tokyo, Japan, at around 1:30 a.m, however, just minutes into the flight, the crew received a message indicating possible C-4 explosive on-board. The pilot immediately reported the situation and requested an emergency return.

The plane landed safely and everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Police teams thoroughly searched the aircraft but no explosive material was found.

Bomb Threat Prompts Hong Kong Airlines Emergency Landing

HONGKONG airlinesHong Kong Airlines flight HX337 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, China, on March 10.

The Airbus A330-200, carrying 295 passengers and crew members, was en-route from Beijing to Hong Kong when the airline officials got information about possible explosive device onboard.

The pilot then diverted the plane to Wuhan Tianhe International Airport where it made an uneventful emergency landing.

Authorities said the aircraft was thoroughly searched upon landing, however, no explosive device was found.

Bomb Threat Prompts Air China Flight to Make Emergency Landing in Chongqing

Air ChinaAir China flight CA1336 had to make an emergency landing at Chongqing Airport in China, on February 25.

The flight, heading from Nanning to Beijing, had to land in emergency, after a female passenger claimed there was a bomb in the cabin.

The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained unharmed. A SWAT team thoroughly searched the plane but no explosive device was found.

The woman was taken for questioning.

Two U.S. Airliners Searched at Atlanta Airport after ‘Credible’ Bomb Threat

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International AirportF-16 fighter jets were dispatched to escort two airliners to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Georgia, on January 24.

The fighter jets were sent from a South Carolina base after the authorities received a ‘credible’ bomb threat on Twitter, which targeted the inbound Southwest Airlines Flight 2492 and Delta Air Lines Flight 1156. The Southwest flight was coming from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, while the Delta flight was arriving from Portland, Oregon.

Both aircrafts landed uneventfully and all passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

The passengers were allowed to leave the airport after the FBI authorities debriefed them. The planes and luggage were thoroughly searched by the bomb disposal squad.

An airport spokesperson later confirmed on twitter, “All clear for both aircraft & normal airport operations have resumed. Thank you for your patience. Safety & security are our top priorities.”

American Airlines Jet Evacuated at JFK after Bomb Threat

American AirlinesAmerican Airlines Flight 67 was searched for a bomb after it landed at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on November 30.

Authorities said they received a threat involving the New York-bound flight which originated in Barcelona.

The flight landed at JFK at 12:01 p.m., immediately after which, around 200 passengers and 9 crew members were safely evacuated. Police and K-9 unit dogs thoroughly searched the aircraft as well as its cargo, however, no explosive material was found.

The airline said in a statement, “American Airlines apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused. However, the safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority.”

Officials said the focus of investigation would now be the source of threat.

 

Bomb Threat Forces Flyme Passenger Jet to Make Emergency Landing

FlymeA Flyme flight had to make an emergency landing at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport in Malé, Maldives, at around 11:49 p.m. on November 22.

The plane was on its way from Malé to Baa Atoll Dharavandhoo Island when a passenger passed a written bomb threat to the pilot through a crew member. The pilot then immediately turned back and made an emergency landing in Malé.

There were 11 passengers and 3 crew members aboard at the time; all of them were evacuated safely. Authorities said that 10 out of 11 passengers were foreign nationals while only 1 was local.

The Maldives National Defense Forces (MNDF) searched the plane, however, they did not find any explosives.

The Police are investigating.

Bomb Threat Tweet Prompts American Airlines Emergency Landing

American AirlinesAmerican Airlines flight 362, en-route from Dallas to San Diego, had to divert and make an emergency landing at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Arizona, at about 12:05 p.m. on August 24.

According to Rebecca Bloomfield from the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, officials at San Diego’s Lindbergh Field received a call from the Transportation Security Administration’s Coordination Center that the FBI was looking into a tweet indicating about possible explosives aboard flight 362. The twitter threat was posted by @LizardSquad at around 10:45 a.m. on August 24. It read: @AmericanAir: We have been receiving reports that @j_smedley’s plane #362 from DFW to SAN has explosives on-board, please look into this.

She further said that the FBI officials then diverted the flight to Phoenix where it made a safe emergency landing. Everyone aboard remained safe.

Passengers had to wait while the federal investigators searched the plane for any explosives. The flight resumed to San Diego after 4 hours. The FBI is investigating the incident.

Laptop Prompts Turkish Plane to Land in Emergency

Turkish airlinesA Turkish Airlines passenger jet, en route from Brussels to Istanbul, made an emergency landing at the Sofia Airport, Bulgaria, at about 19:00 EEST on August 9.

The decision was made after the authorities suspected that a laptop with an unknown owner could contain an explosive device.

The plane landed safely and all the passengers were off loaded and led to a safe location. The suspected laptop was seized for examination however, no threat was established.

The flight resumed after a short time.

Bomb Hoax Forces Qatar Airways Passenger jet to Make Emergency Landing

QatarThe Qatar Airways flight QR23 made an emergency landing at Manchester airport at about 1 p.m. on August 5, on suspicion of a possible explosive device on board.

The flight was en route from Doha to Manchester when the crew received a threat regarding a possible device on the Airbus A330. Royal Air Force fighter Typhoon jet aircrafts were then sent to escort the plane which was carrying 269 passengers and 13 crew members at the time.

Chief Supt John O’Hare said: “An incoming plane has been escorted into the airport by the Royal Air Force, as a result of information received by the pilot about a possible device on board….We don’t know how genuine this threat is but it is absolutely vital we deal with the situation as a full emergency.”

The plane landed safely. The passengers were evacuated and the plane was thoroughly searched. However, no device was found.

The British police arrested a 47 year old passenger on suspicion of making bomb hoax threat.

Manchester’s runways remained closed for 25 minutes, and nine inbound flights were diverted to other airports.

Kochi-Delhi Flight Lands in Emergency at Bangalore

airindia2A New Delhi-bound Air India Flight from Kochi had to divert and make an emergency landing at Bangalore airport on the night of June 30.

The incident happened after a female passenger sent an SMS to her husband after checking in, saying that she had seen high security at the airport and there might be a bomb. The husband immediately contacted the Kochi airport authorities and reported that his wife had sent an SMS that a bomb had been planted on the flight. The authorities informed the pilot who diverted the flight AI-047 towards Bangalore and landed in emergency.

The plane landed safely and everyone aboard remained unhurt.

Authorities said that a case may be registered against the woman and her husband.

Norwegian Air Flight Passenger Makes Bomb Threat Midair

Norwegian AirA Norwegian Air flight en route from Copenhagen, Denmark to Oslo, Norway had to make an emergency landing in Sweden, due to a bomb threat from an on-board passenger.

The Boeing 737, carrying around 94 people, was on its way on April 25 afternoon when a passenger told a crew member that he had placed a bomb in the cargo hold. Following the threat, the plane made emergency landing at Landvetter airport, Gothenburg, Sweden, at around 3.30pm GMT.

Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen, the spokesperson for Norwegian Air said “Passengers have left the plane and the man who had warned of the bomb is under control by the police.”

Björ Blixter, a Gothenburg Police official said that the investigation is underway.

Jet Airways Bhuj-Mumbai Flight Makes Uneventful Landing Due to False Bomb Threat

A Jet Airways local flight in India had to make an emergency landing due to a bomb threat.

The flight 9W 2536, set from Bhuj  to Mumbai, was on its way when the Bhuj airport director received an anonymous call, stating that there is a bomb in the air plane. Consequently, a full emergency was declared at the Mumbai Airport, with ambulances and fire tenders ready at the scene.

The flight landed at 10:37 am and all 60 passengers and 5 crew members were safely evacuated.

The air craft was later declared safe, after a two hour long security check.
