Thai Airways Flight Returns to Heathrow Airport due to Cargo Door Indication

Thai Airways flight TG-917 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on February 13th.

The Boeing 777-300 plane took off for Bangkok, Thailand, but had to turn back due to a cargo door indication.

The plane landed back safely. All three hundred and sixty-four people aboard remained unharmed.

Thai Airways Plane Rejects Takeoff From Melbourne

Thai Airways flight TG-462 had to reject takeoff from Melbourne, Australia, on October 28th.

The Airbus A350-900 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Bangkok, Thailand, when the crew noticed a problem and rejected takeoff.

The plane safely returned to the apron. Everyone aboard remained safe.

Thai Airways Plane Veers Off Runway at Suvarnabhumi Airport

Thai Airways flight TG-679 veered off runway at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand, on October 8th.

The incident happened as the plane, coming from Guangzhou, China, was attempting to land in heavy rain.

The plane came to stop on soft ground. No injuries were reported.

Thai Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Islamabad

Thai Airways flight TG-349 made an emergency landing in Islamabad, Pakistan, on October 3rd.

The Airbus A330-300 plane flying from Bangkok, Thailand, was on approach to Islamabad, when it suffered a bird strike that caused a windshield to crack.

The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Thai Airways Flight Veers Off Runway at Dhaka Airport

Thai Airways flight TG-321 veered off runway upon landing at Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on July 24th.

The Boeing 777-200 plane coming from Bangkok, Thailand, burst right hand main tires before it temporarily veered off runway.

The pilots safely steered the plane back onto the runway. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Thai Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Bangkok

Thai Airways flight TG-676 had to return and make an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand, on February 19th.

The Airbus A380-800 plane took off for Narita International Airport, Japan, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine problem.

The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

Thai Airways Plane Overruns Runway at Islamabad Airport

Thai Airways Plane Rejects Take off in Thailand

ThaiThai Airways flight TG-206 had to reject taking-off at Phuket International Airport, Thailand, on November 29.

The Airbus A330-300 en-route to Bangkok, Thailand, was about to take-off when one of its engines emitted a loud bang.

The plane returned to the apron safely.

Thai Airways Plane Diverts to Indonesia

THAIThai Airways flight TG-473 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Denpasar, Indonesia, on October 10th.

The Boeing 787-800 plane heading from Bangkok, Thailand, to Brisbane, Australia, was diverted after the crew received indication of oil leakage from the right hand engine.

The plane landed uneventfully. All 264 people aboard remained safe.

Thai Airways Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Chiang Mai

THAIThai Airways flight TG-111 made an emergency landing in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on June 11th.

The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Bangkok, Thailand, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew had to shut down its left engine.

The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

Thai Airways Plane Diverts to Japan after Electrical Issues

THAIThai Airways flight TG-671 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Osaka International Airport, Japan, on January 12.

The Boeing 777-300, flying from Sapporo, Japan, to Bangkok, Thailand, had to divert due to some electrical issues.

The plane landed safely.

All 133 passengers and 19 crew members remained safe.

Thai Airways Jet Hit by Bird While Landing in Kathmandu

ThaiA Thai Airways aircraft, operating flight # TG 320, was hit by a bird while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, on March 22.

The Boeing 777 was flying from Bangkok, Thailand, when it suffered a bird strike on its right engine and sustained minor damage.

Authorities confirmed that the plane made a normal landing, without any special emergency protocol. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

The aircraft was taken for repair.

Cracked Window Prompts Thai Airways Flight to Make Emergency Landing at Bali

ThaiThai Airways flight TG467 en-route from Sydney, Australia to Bangkok, Thailand, made an emergency landing at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport in Indonesia, at 4:50 p.m. on August 12.

The emergency landing was made after a crack was noticed in the cockpit window of the Boeing 747 which had 273 passengers and 21 crew members aboard at the time.

The pilot, Ivtas Dejkunjorn, safely landed the plane and no one was hurt.

An airport spokeswoman said, “Passengers have already been cleared through immigration and have been put up in hotels near the airport for the night.”

Thai Airways said that they are sending a team to Bali to investigate the incident and for overseeing the replacement of cracked window.

THAI Flight TG 281 Makes Emergency Landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport

THAIA Thai Airways International (THAI) flight connecting Bangkok and the tourist resort Koh Samui, had to return and make an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi airport in the morning of April 13.

Suvarnabhumi director, Raweewan Netarakavesana, said that the pilot discovered problems in the landing gear. She further said that the THAI engineers were inspecting the gear.

The passengers were taken to their destination through another plane.

Thai Emergency Landing

On August 30, 2013, a Thai Airways Airbus A380 en route from Bangkok,Thailand, to Hong Kong flew into turbulent air that caused loose property to bounce to the ceiling. Some of the passengers bounced from the ceiling to the floor as well. Some of the loose items caused minor damage inside the plane, to lockers and ceiling.

The turbulence lasted only a few seconds.

Pilots landed safely.

Of the 504 passengers 38 passengers were injured by turbulence and hospitalized.

One of the 26 crew was injured and hospitalized on landing.

Thai Airways Airbus with Nosegear Failure skids off Bangkok runway, 14 Hospitalized


A Thai Airways International Airbus A330-321 en route from Guangzhou Baiyun International to Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi International (i.e. China to Thailand) had a runway excursion when it landed at its destination.

Fortunately emergency services were on hand to put out the fire that started in the engine.

The Thai Airways statement said there was a “landing gear malfunction.”

The plane went off the right side of the runway, and the nosegear failed.

There were fourteen crew and 388 passengers. Fourteen people were injured and hospitalized in Bangkok. Emergency slides were used to exit the plane. We presume the injuries occurred on the emergency slides.

Theguardian reported that Thai Airways covered up the logo after the accident. This practice is known as the “crisis communication rule” from Star Alliance, and is a measure to save face and reputation.

Thai Airways Airbus Suffers Turbulence Injuring almost Forty

A Thai Airways Airbus A380-800 en route from Bangkok to Hong Kong encountered turbulence just prior to landing.

The turbulence caused disruption in the plane as things flew about. The seatbelt light was reported to be on.

Of the 500 passengers and 26 crew, about forty people were injured and hospitalized. The flight landed with emergency services on standby.

Where: Kansai International Airport in the city of Izumisano in Osaka Prefecture
When: Jun 20th 2010
Who: 227 passengers and 17 crew, 4 injured
Why: The flight encountered turbulence at 6:30 am over the Pacific Ocean off Kochi Prefecture

The flight landed safely Osaka 15 minutes later. Three cabin crew and one passenger were hospitalized for injuries. The weather service says that the atmosphere was unstable due to a rain front.

What: Thai Airways Airbus A330-300 TG-318 en route from Mumbai to Bangkok
Where: NSC Bose International Airport Kolkata
When: Mar 25 2010
Who: 238 passengers and 11 crew
Why: When the pilot detected a problem in the fuel dispenser affecting the rate of flow of fuel to the engine, he requested to make an emergency landing in Kolkata.

Ten technicians were flown in to provide maintenance on the plane.

Passengers were provided accommodations (hotel or international lounge), and later booked on a Kolkata-Bangkok flight.
