SriLankan Airlines Plane Bursts Tire on Landing at Chennai Airport

SriLankan Airlines flight UL-121 burst a tire on landing at Chennai International Airport, India, on February 17th.

The incident happened when the Airbus A330-200 plane was coming from Colombo, Sri Lanka.

All one hundred and forty-two passengers aboard remained safe.

SriLankan Airlines Plane Makes Safe Landing After Lithium Battery Catches Fire Mid-Air

SriLankan Airlines flight UL-166 made an emergency landing in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on July 30th.

The Airbus A330-200 plane flying from Kochi, India, declared an emergency after smoke was noticed emanating from a bag carrying a Lithium Ion battery and two mobile phones.

The crew discharged fire extinguishers into the bag while the plane continued for a safe landing.

All two hundred and two people aboard remained unharmed.

SriLankan Airlines Plane Returns to India after Engine Failure

Srilankan airlinesSriLankan Airlines flight UL-168 had to return and make an emergency landing at Cochin International Airport, Kochi, Kerala, India, on May 18th.

The Airbus A321-200, flying to Colombo, Sri Lanka, had to return due to engine failure.

The plane landed safely.

No one was injured.

SriLankan Airlines Plane Returns to Bangkok due to Smoke in Cabin

Srilankan airlinesSriLankan Airlines flight UL-891 had to return and make an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 7th.

The plane took off for Colombo, Sri Lanka, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported smoke in the cabin.

The Airbus A330-200 plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

SriLankan Airlines Plane Stops at Runway in India after Hydraulic Problem

Srilankan airlinesSriLankan Airlines flight UL-125 had to stop at runway 25 of Chennai International Airport, India, on September 10.

The Airbus A330-200, en-route from Colombo, Sri Lanka, to Chennai, had to be stopped before reaching the apron due to over-heated hydraulic system.

The plane landed uneventfully.

All 114 people aboard remained unhurt.

Flight diverts to Stansted

A Sri Lankan Airlines plane en route from Colombo to Heathrow diverted to Stansted to make an emergency landing after two passengers endangered the plane. One of the passengers said “something” was in the luggage hold.

The 267 passengers and crew were uninjured. The two passengers were taken into custody. One is undergoing medical treatment in a hospital and one is at Harlow Police station.

The investigation is being handled as a criminal matter.
