Plane Crash in Central Kenya Leaves 10 Dead

A small plane crashed in a mountainous area in central Kenya, on June 5th.

The wreckage of the Cessna plane, belonging to FlySAX airline, was found in the Aberdare forest.

There were ten people aboard at the time, including two pilots and eight passengers. All of them were killed in the crash.

The plane was heading from Kitale to Nairobi, Kenya, at the time.

Kenya Airways Plane Returns to Harare After Bird Strike

Kenya Airways flight KQ-704 had to return and make an emergency landing in Harare, Zimbabwe, on May 7th.

The plane heading to Lusaka, Zambia, had to turn back after it suffered a bird strike during departure.

The plane landed back safely. All ninety-six passengers remained safe.

Kenya Airways Flight Returns to Amsterdam due to Cracked Windshield

Kenya Airways flight KQ-117 returned to Amsterdam, Netherlands, on October 31st.

The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Nairobi, Kenya, but had to turn back due to a cracked windshield.

The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Kenya Airways Flight Returns to Nairobi due to Loss of Cabin Pressure

Kenya Airways flight KQ-112 had to return and make an emergency landing in Nairobi, Kenya, on December 28th.

The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, but had to return shortly afterwards due to loss of cabin pressure.

The passenger oxygen masks were deployed as the plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Kenya Airways Plane Returns to South Africa due to Mechanical Problem

Kenya AirwaysA Kenya Airways flight had to return and make an emergency landing at O. R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa, on August 23rd.

The plane en-route to Nairobi, Kenya, had to return shortly after taking-off due to a transponder failure.

The plane landed uneventfully.

All people onboard remained unharmed.

Low-on-Fuel Kenya Airways Jet Makes Emergency Landing

Kenya AirwaysA Kenya Airways flight had to land in emergency at Mombasa Moi International Airport, Kenya, at around 12:05 p.m. on October 20.

The Manager of Moi International Airport, Yatich Kagungo, confirmed that the Boeing 737-800 plane, en route from Delhi, India to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, was diverted after running low on fuel. “We were alerted that the plane experienced low fuel gauge as it entered Kenyan airspace, we had to arrange for emergency landing in Mombasa as nearest airport .It was very successful,” he said.

None of the 38 passengers aboard was hurt.

The aircraft later resumed its journey after re-fuelling.

When: January 2, 2013
Who: 56 passengers, 7 crew
Why: On January 1, 2013, Kenya Airways flight KQ320 was en route when it developed engine problems.

Online sources said that there may have been an engine fire handled by an engine fire suppression system while other sources denied a fire. Passengers reported fire shooting from the left engine.

After less than half an hour in the air, pilots returned to Khartoum where they made a safe landing.

Passengers were provided alternative transportation (Wednesday).
