EmiratesEmirates Airlines flight EK-407 made a safe emergency landing at Melbourne Airport, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on July 14th.

The Airbus A380-800 en-route from Auckland, New Zealand was on approach to Melbourne’s runway when it was descended below the minimum assigned altitude, and climbed back after receiving instruction from the ATC.

The plane landed successfully. All people onboard remained unharmed.

An investigation regarding the occurrence has been initiated.

The plane, heading from Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was diverted after the health condition of a passenger, who had ingested cocaine, started deteriorating.

According to Mr. Ahmadu Garba, the NDLEA commander at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), “A passenger complained of severe abdominal pains and later suffered three recurrent seizures thus necessitating an emergency landing in Lagos… Upon arrival, four passengers tested positive for narcotic ingestion. They are Okeh Desmond, Ezeanya Nnaemeka, Christopher Nonso and Chibusi Promise. All the suspects are under observation.”

Emirates Plane Diverts to Perth due to Medical Emergency

EmiratesAn Emirates plane had to make an emergency landing in Perth, Western Australia, on December 1st.

The A380 plane was en-route from Auckland, New Zealand, to Dubai, UAE, when a passenger went into labor. There were two doctors on-board who helped her through her contractions while the pilot diverted to Perth.

The passengers said the woman did not speak English and the doctors had to use Google translate to communicate with her.

The plane landed safely. The passenger was rushed to hospital where she gave birth to a baby girl.

The delayed flight reached Dubai the next day.

Emirates A380 Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Sri Lanka

EmiratesEmirates flight EK413 had to make an emergency landing at Bandaranaike International Airport, Sri Lanka, on June 26.

The Airbus A380, carrying 471 passengers and 30 crew members, was travelling from Sydney to Dubai when the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit and requested an emergency landing.

Emirates Jet Diverted due to Medical Emergency

EmiratesAn Emirates flight made an emergency stop at Gatwick Airport in Crawley, England, on March 29.

According to an airport spokesperson, the flight, heading from JFK International Airport in New York to Dubai, was diverted due to a medical emergency.

Emirates Flight Makes Priority Landing in Newcastle

EmiratesEmirates flight EK35 had to make a priority landing in Newcastle, England, on March 23.

Authorities said the plane, flying from Dubai, declared an emergency at around 11 a.m. due to a medical emergency on board.

According to an airline spokesperson, “The aircraft landed safely and the passenger was met and attended to by medical staff.”

Emirates Plane Pulled Off the Runway due to Smoke

Emirates Airlines flight EK 609 was pulled off the runway at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, just before takeoff at about 7:45 p.m. on October 4.

The Airbus 320 was ready to depart with 82 passengers aboard when the pilot detected smoke in the cockpit and called for emergency assistance. All the passengers and crew members were safely evacuated through chutes.

“All the passengers and crew members were evacuated and the plane has been parked on one side. No one was hurt,” said Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson Pervez George.

The airline said that the passengers were accommodated in another flight and the cause of smoke is being investigated.

Emirates Flight Diverts to Hyderabad due to Medical Emergency

Emirates Airlines flight EK-432 was forced to make an emergency landing at Hyderabad International Airport, India, at around 7:40 a.m. on September 18.

The flight, en-route from Dubai to Singapore, was diverted after a female passenger suffered an acute brain stroke.

The plane landed safely and the patient, identified as Maria Lousia Victoria, 69, from Netherlands, was rushed to Apollo Hospitals in Jubilee Hills. The hospital authorities said that the left side of her body was paralyzed. She is currently held under observation in the ICU.

The flight resumed at 9:10 a.m.

Seventy-Two Children Treated at Heathrow Airport After Falling ill Midair

AmbulanceSeventy-two children aboard Emirates flight EK007, coming from Cape Town, South Africa to Heathrow airport on Sunday, suffered from diarrhea mid air.

The children aged 10 to 14, were part of a Welsh choir. They were on their way back after performing in Cape Town when they began vomiting. The crew members then requested emergency services at Heathrow airport to provide medical aid to the sick children.

Especially trained paramedics from the ‘Hazardous area response team’ were waiting at the scene when the Airbus A380 touched the ground. Sixty Children were treated at the spot while 12 were taken to a hospital. The hospital sources confirmed that all children were released late night after they received treatment for diarrhea.

Plane-Catering Truck Collision Injures a Flight Attendant at Dubai Airport

An Emirates flight catering truck collided with a Urals Airline Airbus A320 at the Dubai International Airport, resulting in flight attendant Marina Zhelyamova getting injured. None of the 128 passengers were injured.

According to media reports, the plane was about to take off for Russia when the catering truck smashed into its tail. The collision made the female flight attendant to fall out through the open door.

Marina Zhelyamova was immediately taken to the hospital with a concussion, and later had surgery.

Emirates Airbus Diverts to Kuwait after engine shut down

On Oct 25, an Emirates Airlines Airbus A380 en route from New York to Dubai had to shut down a right engine.

Pilots diverted to Kuwait where they made a safe landing.

A replacement airbus was provided to carry the passengers to Dubai. We don’t have information how long passengers waited or if they were provided accommodations during the interim.

Emirates Emergency Landing in Singapore due to Turbulence

On May 17, an Emirates Airlines Boeing 777-eoo en route from Dubai to Jakarta suffered turbulence while en route.

Three crew and ten passengers were injured by turbulence over the Nicobar Islands.

The pilots diverted to Singapore where they made a safe landing with 374 passengers aboard. The injured were hospitalized.

The pilots arrived in Jakarta twenty hours late, after the unexpected stop-over.

The injured were provided alternative flights.
