Air Baltic flight BT-9802 returned to Amsterdam, Netherlands, on December 24th.

The Boeing 737-500 plane took off for Riga, Latvia, but had to turn back after the crew failed to retract the landing gear.

Air Baltic flight BT-629 had to return for an emergency landing in Riga, Latvia, on September 25th.

The plane took off for Milan–Malpensa Airport, Italy, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

Latvia-Bound Air Baltic Flight Suffers Bird Strike

Air Baltic flight BT-432 suffered a bird strike on the way to Riga, Latvia, on September 24th.

The incident happened when the plane flying from Vienna, Austria, was on approach to Riga.

Air Baltic Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Riga

Air Baltic flight BT-732 had to return and make an emergency landing in Riga, Latvia, on August 5th.

The plane took off for Baku, Azerbaijan, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Air Baltic Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Copenhagen

Air Baltic flight BT-619 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Copenhagen, Denmark, on June 13th.

The Boeing 737-300 plane heading from Riga, Latvia, to Amsterdam, Netherlands, was diverted after the crew discovered fire on board.

Swedish armed forces dispatched a fighter jet to inspect the plane from the outside. It did not find any traces of fire or smoke.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

AirBaltic Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Latvia

AirBaltic flight BT-402 had to return and make an emergency landing in Riga, Latvia, on August 12th.

The plane took off for Kiev, Ukraine, but had to turn back due to an oil pressure indication problem.

The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

AirBaltic Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Latvia

AirBaltic flight BT-136 had to make an emergency landing in Riga, Latvia, on December 28th.

The plane was flying from Copenhagen, Denmark, when the crew reported a gear indication and performed a go-around to work checklists.

The plane subsequently continued for a safely landing. All 64 passengers and 4 crew members remained unharmed.

Air Baltic Plane Rejects Takeoff in Netherlands due to Door Open Warning

AirBalticAir Baltic flight BT-618 had to reject takeoff at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Amsterdam, Netherlands, on March 24th.

The Boeing 737-300, en-route Riga, Latvia was accelerating for takeoff when the crew reported an open door, prompting the pilots to reject takeoff.

The plane returned to the apron safely.

All passengers aboard remained unharmed.

AirBaltic Flight Makes Emergency Landing after Clear Air Turbulence Injures Three

AirBalticAirBaltic flight BT-211 had to make an emergency landing at Berlin Tegel Airport, Germany on November 24.

The Boeing 737-300, flying from Riga, Latvia, declared emergency after it encountered severe clear air turbulence that injured a flight attendant and two passengers.

The plane landed uneventfully. Authorities said one passenger was taken to hospital with a fractured leg while the other passenger and crew member were treated at the airport.

The flight was carrying 59 passengers and 5 crew members at the time.

What: Air Baltic de Havilland Dash 8-400 en route from Riga Latvia to Brussels
Where: Riga
When: Nov 29th 2010
Who: 73 passengers and 4 crew
Why: Before takeoff, the flight was delayed due reportedly to overweight baggage. Then en route, the Dash 8 developed cabin pressure problems. The flight circled for an hour to burn fuel, then the flight returned to Riga to make a safe landing. Passengers were provided ( 1.50 lats, about $2.78 US) meal vouchers and provided a replacement jet. Krišj?nis Kari?š and Sandra Kalniete (European Parliament members) were aboard the flight.
