Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Tennessee River

A small plane made an emergency landing in Tennessee River at Decatur, Alabama, on April 7th.

The pilot of the small seaplane said he was doing some survey work for a proposed water pipeline when the aircraft’s battery failed, forcing him to make an emergency landing.

Both occupants of the plane, including the pilot Peter Serodino, of Chattanooga, and his only passenger, remained unharmed.

The plane was towed to a nearby marina.

Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Ocean Off Cocoa Beach Pier

A Challenger II amateur-built experimental seaplane made an emergency landing in ocean water, around 2 miles south of Cocoa Beach Pier, Florida, at about 12:50 p.m. on November 13.

The Brevard County sheriff’s office confirmed that the pilot decided to make an emergency landing after the seaplane developed some engine problems.

The pilot remained uninjured. His identity has not yet been disclosed.

The red-colored plane is registered to a Virginia Beach resident Charles Guiter.

The FAA is investigating.

3 Dead After a Seaplane Crashed in Como, Italy

A small seaplane crashed and caught fire in the mountainous area near Premana, east of Como, Italy.

The incident happened on June 9 after the plane took off from Lake Como with three persons aboard.

All three people were killed in the incident. Their identities are not known at the moment.

The crash happened at an inaccessible wooded area so the emergency crews had to reach there on foot.

Seaplane Crash Injures 2 Near Lake Idamere

A seaplane crash near Lake Idamere Park, outside of Tavares city in Florida injured the pilot and the only passenger on board.

The incident took place just before 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 10. According to the Tavares city officials, the pilot was attempting to land the plane on Lake Idamere but miscalculated the distance and landed it in a wooded region near the lake park’s parking lot located on County road 448.

The pilot suffered from a back injury while the passenger was shifted to Florida Hospital Waterman with minor injuries.

According to the official website of the Federal Aviation Administration, the crashed plane was registered to Coastal Alliance Inc. of Ventura, CA and was manufactured by Progressive Aerod.

Sarasota Seaplane Crash


On 12-JAN-2013 at 3:30 pm, a single engine SEAWIND 3000 seaplane was taking off from Sarasota for Venice Airport when it crashed after takeoff.

The pilot died in the collision; the passenger survived with injuries. The seaplane did not gain enough altitude and struck a couple of trees. It impacted near the New College of Florida campus. The passenger, a 63-year-old man from Michigan was taken by medivac to Tampa General Hospital.

Witnesses say the plane made a sound like a gunshot before it lost altitude, missed power lines and reached a grassy field owned by USF New College. One witness saw the plane on fire before it hit the ground.

No one on the ground was injured.
