Chilean Crash Kills 4

What: single-engine Mooney plane en route from La Serena to Santiago.
Where: 474 km north of the Chilean capital of Santiago
When: Jan 11, 2010
Who: 4 fatalities (pilot and 3 businessmen)
Why: The light plane crashed for unknown reasons. A beacon initially led searchers to Chicurea but the wreckage was found by Chile’s Air Force Search and Rescue (two Chilean air force planes and a helicopter) in La Cachimba valley, 22 km from La Serena.

Two In One Day

What: experimental plane
Where: Healdsburg Municipal Airport
When: Thursday, May 21 10:58 a.m.
Who: Pilot
Why: A quartering wind caused the pilot to veer off the runway and into the Funsten Ranch vineyard grape vines. Plane owner/pilot was not injured when his homebuilt crashed.

Then…a mere six hours later…same place…

What: low-wing, single-engine Mooney
Where: Healdsburg Municipal Airport
When: 4:55 p.m
Who: pilot
Why: Right after take-off, the Mooney went to partial power, passed a home and powerlines, then skidded on its belly into the vineyard where this Mooney also crash-landed on grapevines by the Mazzocco Winery

DeKalb County Crash kills Two

What: 1946-era single-engine fixed aircraft listed as a “model 415 C ERCOUP/ MOONEY A-2 AIRCOUPE”
Where: corn field near the city of Sandwich
When: 04/11/2009 1:49 p.m.
Who: 53-year-old Randall Hougham of Sandwich, who was flying the plane, and 22-year-old passenger Lauren Hamilton, also of Sandwich died in the crash
Why: Circumstances are unknown.

What: MOONEY M20E registered to David Michaud
Where: on the west side of Rio Linda airport, Sacramento Ca, Roy Hayer Memorial Speedway
When: 02/28/2009
Who: 2 on board were fatally injured
Why: The Mooney M2OE crashed on the west side of Rio Linda Airport . On crashing on the speedway, the plane caught fire. The plane’s owner, Dave Michaud, was an on-call reserve deputy, formerly a C-5 Flight Engineer in the 301st Airlift Squadron at Travis.

Mooney Crashes in Elbert Colorado


What: MOONEY M20C registered to ALPHA AVIATION INC
Where: ELBERT, CO in the 28000 block of Elbert Road, between Kiowa and Elbert.
When: 02/01/2009
Who: Pilot Gary Williams of Highlands Ranch, Colo.
Why: The plane nosedived into a creek late Sunday morning killing the pilot. The crash is under investigation by the NTSB

What: MOONEY M20C Fixed Wing Single-Engine
Where: MOJAVE, CA
When: 01/07/2009
Who: only the pilot was aboard.
Why: On landing, the landing gear collapsed.

Mooney Goes Down on Stuart Powell Field


What: 1967 Mooney Executive 21 en route from Boyle County KY Miami Fla
Where: Boyle County KY
When: 2:30 Saturday
Who: pilot 38-year old Bruce Bennett of Nicholasville, his wife and son
Why: After taking off from Stuart Powell Field and retracting the landing gear, the plane slid into the grass median between runways. The accident was due to high winds. There were no injuries.

Bloodied Pilot survives Florida Crash


What: Mooney M-20G registered to Wendy Taber, of Greenacres, and co-owners Gerald Taber and Jim McAlister. The flight came down while en route from Lantana to Titusville
Where: near Englar Drive and Harris Road, Indian River County
When: Midnight Friday
Who: Injured pilot was taken to the Sebastian River Medical Center, and is in stable condition. He does not recall the crash, but bruised and bloody walked a quarter of a mile to a residence to make a call to 911.
Why: Under Investigation. The plane apparently clipped trees coming down, breaking the wings off the intact fuselage.

Mooney Crashes in Wallace

What: a Mooney 20 en route to NJ. Plane registered to Raymond Conley of Sarasota, Florida.
Where: about a mile from Wallace Airport in a wooded area near the Duplin-Pender county line.
When: just before 11:00 a.m. Tuesday
Who: unnamed pilot reportedly 80 years old and airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center
Why: The plane crashed shortly following takeoff.
