Small Plane Crashes in Connecticut; Two Killed

A small plane crashed near the North Branford-Guilford border in Connecticut, on September 16th.

The incident happened when the Mooney M20-C plane was carrying two people, including NASCAR modified championship racer Ted Christopher, 59, and the pilot Charles Dundas, 81.

Both occupants of the plane were killed in the crash.

The cause of crash is being investigated.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Flagler Beach, Florida

A small plane had to make an emergency landing in Flagler Beach, Florida, on August 20th.

The 1968 Mooney plane caught fire after landing on the State Road 100 bridge.

There were two people aboard at the time; both of them remained uninjured.

The FAA is investigating.

Small Plane Crash Lands in Golf Course in Kansas

A small plane crash landed in Tallgrass Golf Course, Greenleaf Court, Wichita, Kansas, on March 18.

The Mooney M20C, heading from Nashville to Jabara Airport, had some problem with its engine when the pilot decided to land in emergency.

The plane received major damage to its wings.

Both the pilot and one passenger survived but suffered from injuries of varying intensities.

Small Plane Crashed near Whiteman Airport, California

A small plane crashed in the middle of a street near Whiteman Airport, Pacoima, California, on February 22nd.

It is believed that the fixed-wing, single-engine Mooney aircraft suffered engine failure before it went down in the 10100 block of North San Fernando Road, clipping several cars.

No injuries were reported.

The incident is being investigated.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Maryland

A 1965 Mooney aircraft made an emergency landing at Tipton Airport, Maryland, on November 22.

The plane took off from Tipton Airport but had to return shortly afterwards after it lost power due to a mechanical fault. The pilot Paul Antoinette, 48, of Baltimore, was heading to Florida at the time.

The plane landed uneventfully in a grassy area near the runway. The pilot remained uninjured.

Pilot Killed as Small Plane Crashes near Worcester Regional Airport

A small plane crashed into the woods near Worcester Regional Airport in Worcester, Massachusetts, on October 24.

The single-engine 1996 Mooney M20M plane was attempting to take-off from the airport when it veered right and crashed into trees just beyond the runway.

The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash. He was identified as Dr.Gary Weller, 66, of Putnam, Connecticut.

The accident is being investigated.

Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Hillsborough Township after Wing Damage

emergencyA 1993 Mooney M20M aircraft made a controlled emergency landing at Central Jersey Regional Airport, Hillsborough Township, New Jersey, on September 19.

The Pennsylvania-bound plane was taking off from the airport when its left wing touched a chain link fence adjacent to the runway, causing damage and forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.

The plane landed safely. The pilot Ross Cole and his passenger Pamela Cole remained uninjured.

The incident is being investigated.

Mooney aircraft makes Emergency Landing in Sheboygan County Farm

A Mooney aircraft had to make an emergency landing in a farm field along County Highway A, in Wilson, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, on the morning of June 21.

The pilot, from Cleveland, Wisconsin, decided to land the plane in emergency after its engine lost power.

No injuries were reported.

The FAA is investigating.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Reno-Stead Airport

A single-engine Mooney aircraft made an emergency landing at Reno-Stead Airport in Nevada, on June 8.

Both people aboard the plane, including the pilot and his only passenger, remained unharmed.

Authorities said the aircraft was completely destroyed due to fire.

The cause of emergency landing is unclear at the moment.

#Missing Mooney M20K found in Maule

Personal SANTIAGO the Police Special Operations Group found a plane that went missing in Picazo Alto, Chile. The plane was en route between Santiago and Temuco and disappeared from radar at about 3:00 pm May 21. The pilot of record was Raul Alejandro Barria Concha (65), who died in the crash. There were no others aboard. Teams from the Army, PDI, regional Onemi, Fire and Health Service assisted in the search, using the Panguilemo airfield as a hub.

Small Plane Crashed near Norfolk International Airport; 3 Dead

Small planeA 1975 Mooney aircraft crashed into the Norfolk Botanical Garden in Norfolk, Virginia, early on March 4.

According to the aircraft’s owner James Beauchamp of Corapeake, North Carolina, the accident happened when his friend Michael Buxton of Portsmouth, Virginia, was returning from Key West, Florida, along with 2 other people.

The plane was scheduled to land at Suffolk Executive Airport, however, on reaching the airport, the pilot diverted it to Norfolk International Airport. According to Norfolk Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Julian Williamson, “At approximately 1.5 miles out, the pilot made a transmission to the tower. This would be the last communication the tower had with the pilot.”

All three people aboard were killed in the accident.

The cause of accident is being investigated.

Mooney 20K Crashes at a Highway in Ontario; Pilot Survives

Mooney - CopyA six-seater Mooney aircraft crashed on Loyalist Parkway just west of Trenton, Ontario, Canada, shortly after 9 p.m. on August 17.

The Pilot who was the only person aboard survived with minor neck and back injuries. He was taken to Trenton Memorial Hospital. The plane, C-GAWJ, was registered out of Toronto.

The plane damaged hydro lines before it hit the road section and demolished its front engine compartment, wings and tail.

There are unconfirmed reports that the pilot attempted to avoid a crash landing into the Bay of Quinte and instead chose to land on the section of highway.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.

Parking Lot Crash-Landing in Kearny Mesa

At 5:30 p.m., a single engine Mooney M20L registered to William and Devon Logan of San Diego lost power over San Diego, struck a light pole and crashed in the Kearny Mesa Costco parking lot. One woman died at the scene; the other was evacuated to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Two witnesses who were assisting the injured, were treated for burns. The pilot managed to find the only spot that would not cause a lot of damage to people and property.

The registration says the plane flies with a Porsche engine.

Mooney Crashes Home Near Golf Course

A privately owned Mooney M20M TLS crashed into two homes in Greenwood at 2:19 p.m. on Patterson Street across from the Valle Vista Golf Course.

The pilot was the only fatality. The co-pilot was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

Two people were aboard.

At least three were injured in the accident. Two people on the ground sustained injury.

Two homes in the first block of Patterson Street were damaged after the plane lost power during takeoff.

Plane Crash in Arizona Kills 2

2 South Carolina residents were killed after their small plane crashed in northern Arizona.

Charles Trotter, 47, of Liberty, SC and Dakota Jacks, 15, from Pickens, SC were aboard the plane which took off from Las Vegas on June 20. It then landed in Page for a while and departed again at about 1:30 p.m. Authorities said that the last contact with the pilot was established off a Navajo Mountain tower, shortly after the plane took off from Page. Coconino County Sheriff’s office confirmed that the pilot had not filed a flight plane.

According to Sgt. Aaron Dick from Coconino County Sheriff’s office, the deputies received a report of missing, South-Carolina-bound 1961 Mooney M20B plane at about 7:30 a.m. on June 22. The Civil Air Patrol Wings started the search operation, extending over Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. He also said that they were notified about possible wreckage in Peach Canyon, Navajo Nation, at about 1:40 p.m. On June 22.

A sheriff’s deputy was then sent to the area, in a department of Public Safety helicopter, who located the wreckage of the missing plane. The bodies of both the pilot and the passenger were also found with the wreckage.

Trotter was piloting the time at the time of crash. His family later released a statement which said, “Charles Michael Trotter, 47 years old, died doing what he loves-flying his plane. Devoted husband, loved his wife, loved flying, and loved Jesus. Now he is at home with his Lord and Savior. May he rest in peace.”

Dakota was a friend of Trotter’s family; he attended Pickens High School and Pickens View Wesleyan Church.

The NTSB is investigating the cause of accident.

Small Plane Crashed in Wyoming; Two Brothers Presumed Dead

Two people aboard a 1963 Mooney M20C aircraft are presumed dead after the plane’s wreckage was found by a search team at 9:19 a.m. on May 12 near Yellowstone, Wyoming, USA.

The aircraft carrying 86 year old Ward H. Zimmerman and his younger brother 84 year old Robert Zimmerman from Alabama, took off from Yellowstone Regional Airport on May 6. They were en route to Twin Falls in Idaho.

The Park County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team was sent to find the plane after it was reported missing on May 10. A search helicopter spotted the plane in a severely damaged condition, settled on the eastern slope of Howell Mountain in Wyoming.

Park County Sheriff Scott Steward, after reviewing the aerial photographs and discussing the situation with Search and Rescue team officials concluded that the Zimmerman brothers lost their lives in the crash. He said, “Given the damage to the aircraft as well as the extremely harsh environmental conditions in the area, I think there’s no other conclusion we can make.”

Mooney Missing


A Mooney en route from Palm Springs to San Diego Gillespie Field went missing on Wednesday October 9. The sheriff’s deputies helicopter search was suspended Wednesday due to gusty winds, and was found on Thursday at 1:00 a.m.

The search for the plane registered to Andrew Thulin, of San Diego was centered four miles northeast of Julian, near the Volcan Mountain Wilderness. Emergency responders and searchers included US Border Patrol, deputies from Julian, and sheriff’s search and rescue.

Rescuers pinged the pilot’s phone to locate the wreckage and the bodies of a man and woman.

Mooney Flat in Costa Rica

None of the four aboard a TT Aviation Services Mooney M20R Ovation when it’s landing gear collapsed on at Tobias Bolaños Airport in San Jose Costa Rica.

At 8:33 am, aircraft registration N10422, was piloted by Venezuelan Alberto Diaz. The plane apparently blew a tire.

Pavas Fire trucks were on hand but their services were not called for. The plane was towed to the hanger at 10:42.

San Antonio Family Flight Crashes in Angel Fire

A Verhalen Flyers LLC Mooney M20E Super 21 en route from Angel Fire Airport with a family aboard was taking off in windy conditions when it crashed two hundred feet from the runway.

The cause of the crash is unknown but officials point out the windy conditions which are visible in the video below.

The four passengers—two adults and two children— a San Antonio family aboard were fatalities.

Mooney Sustains Landing Gear Crunch On Rotterdam Landing


A Mooney M20J/205 MSE was landing at Rotterdam/The Hague airport when it suffered an accident. The plane stopped off of hard pavement on soft ground with damaged landing gear. No one aboard the plane suffered any injury. A crane was employed to recover the plane.

The official statement is that the accident was due to a technical problem. The airport was closed till 7:30 Sunday.

Refuel Stop Crash in Warsaw Indiana


On 27-JAN-2013, a Mooney M20J/201 en route from Ohio to Michigan made a crash landing at Warsaw Municipal Airport in Indiana when it bounced in crosswinds, crossed a runway and crashed barriers.

Pilot Thomas Kowalczk and his son Brian Kowalczk had gotten parts in Port Clinton, Michigan and Lapier, Michigan and had stopped in Warsaw to refuel.

The plane came to rest over the controls of underground fuel tanks. No fire occurred but the plane sustained significant damage.

Plane crashes in German Meadow

Why: 48-year-old pilot from the Erlangen-Hochstadt and his 53 year old passenger died in a crash. THe plane crashed into a meadow shortly after takeoff.

Emergency services arrived quickly but could not resuscitate the victims.The representative from the Federal Bureao of Aircraft accidents said that the cause of the crash was human error.

Mooney M20C Lands at Island Road and Sheridan Street
