A small plane made an emergency landing at Grove Municipal Airport, Oklahoma, on October 7th.

The Cessna 172 plane was flying from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Chicago, Illinois, when the pilot declared an emergency due an electrical fire onboard.

The plane landed safely. There were two people aboard at the time, including a father and son; both of them remained unharmed.

The plane belongs to Engineers Flying Club, Bethany, Oklahoma.

TV Star, Co-Pilot Killed in Tragic Plane Crash in Montana

A Cessna 182 crashed on the side of Interstate 90 while trying to land at Rock Creek Airstrip, Missoula County, Montana, on August 28th.

The plane was carrying History Channel star Darrell Ward and his co-pilot at the time.

Ward was on his way to begin filming a documentary about the recovery of plane wreckage.

Both people aboard lost their lives.

The crash remains under investigation.

There were three people onboard out of whom a woman was rescued and taken to hospital.

Student Pilot Survives Small Plane Crash in Massachusetts

A small Cessna 150 lost power and crash landed in Littleton, Massachusetts, on August 19th.

According to sources the plane was at 2000 feet when it was seen coming down and crashing into a wooded area.

The pilot was successfully pulled out of the plane and received no injuries.

Small Plane Crashes in New York Woods; 4 Injured

A small Cessna plane crashed in the woods in McDonough, Chenango County, New York, on the afternoon of August 8th.

The plane carrying 4 people was travelling from Sidney, Canada, to Greene County, New York, when it hit the top of the trees.

All 4 people were evacuated out of the plane with minor injuries.

The injured were taken to hospital.

Light Aircraft Overruns Runway in New Zealand

A light aircraft overran the runway at Tauranga Airport, Tauranga, New Zealand, on August 6th.

The Cessna aircraft went off the end of the runway into a creek.

The aircraft received some damage to its nose.

No injuries were reported.

Small Plane Crashed in Rio Grande River

A small plane crashed in Rio Grande river just south of Las Cruces in New Mexico, on June 25th.

The Cessna 172 was carrying two people when it hit power lines and went down just west of N.M. 28.

Both occupants were injured in the accident and were taken to hospital.

The crash is being investigated.

Small Plane Crash-Landed in Reno

A Cessna 182 plane crash-landed on McCarran Boulevard in Reno, Nevada, on May 24th.

According to the FAA, the incident happened when the plane was attempting an emergency landing due to engine failure.

No one was injured in the incident.

The NTSB is investigating.

Skydiving Tour Plane Crashes in Hawaii; 5 Killed

A small plane crashed near Port Allen Airport on the island of Kauai in Hawaii, on May 23rd.

The single engine Cessna 182H plane, belonging to Skydive Kauai, was conducting a skydive tour when it went down.

Five people, including the pilot, two skydive instructors, and two tandem jumpers, were killed in the crash. Their identities are not known at the moment.

The NTSB and the FAA will investigate.

Four Lost in Fatal Cessna Accident in Birchwood Alaska

After taking off from Birchwood, a privately owned Cessna 172P Skyhawk crashed and burned in a forest close to Birchwood Airport, in Birchwood Alaska. Pilot/owner George Kobelnyk, 64, co-pilot Christian Bohrer, 20, Sarah Glaves, 36, and Kyle Braun, 27 all died in the crash. A post impact fire destroyed much of the evidence in the debris field. Kobelnyk not only had his flight instructor certification, but also had worked for the NTSB and the FAA. Locals heard the plane was flying low before it crashed but the cause of the accident is unknown. The impact blaze started a forest fire that also had to be handled. The accident is under investigation by the NTSB, FAA, Cessna, and Lycoming who manufactured the engines. The first responders included the Chugiak Fire Department and police department. The NTSB expressed condolences.

3 Killed, 1 Injured in Alaska Plane Crash

A Cessna 206 plane crashed on Admiralty Island, Alaska, on April 8th.

The commuter airplane, owned by Sunrise Aviation based in Wrangell, Alaska, was carrying four people when it went down near Angoon village.

Three people were killed in the crash while the fourth one survived. She was airlifted to a hospital in Juneau.

The crash is under investigation.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in South Africa

A small plane made an emergency landing on the Lookout Beach in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, on March 24th.

According to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon, “On arrival on the scene a Cessna light aircraft was found to have made an emergency landing on the beach and it is believed that the light aircraft may have suffered engine failure while flying over Keurbooms Lagoon while on a pilot training flight from George Airport forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing on the beach.”

There were two people aboard, including the instructor pilot and trainee pilot; both of them remained unharmed.

The Civil Aviation Authority is investigating.

Four Killed after Small Plane Crashes in Idaho

A small plane crashed near China Beach on the Palisades Reservoir in Idaho, on March 13th.

The Cessna 182 aircraft crashed and burst into flames around 1 mile north of Alpine Airport, from where it departed.

There were four people aboard at the time; all of them were killed in the crash. They were identified as the pilot Jerry “David” Anderson, 40, his wife Jessica Ann Anderson, 38, Thomas “Brook” Summers, 39, and his wife Heidi Summers, 36. All of them were residents of Idaho Falls.

The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the incident.

A Cessna 152 plane made an emergency landing at Sunken Meadow Park in Suffolk County, New York, on March 11th.

Two Injured after Small Plane Crashed in Robertson County

A Cessna 210 crashed near the intersection of Jack Rabbit Lane and OSR East in Robertson County, Tennessee, on February 16.

The plane was en-route from Arlington to College Station, Texas, when it lost engine power and went down on the Circle X Ranch.

There were three people aboard at the time; two of them, including James Guinn, 54, and his wife Kay, sustained non life-threatening injuries while the third passenger, identified as Melinda Guinn, 76, of Arlington, remained uninjured.

The FAA is investigating.

A small plane made an emergency landing on U.S. highway 27, just north of Interstate 75, in Weston, Broward County, Florida, on January 24.

The Cessna 172 was en-route from Palm Beach County to Key West when the pilot Arnaldo Santiago, of Palm Beach Gardens, noticed some issue in the plane and decided to land on the highway.

The plane landed uneventfully. There were three people aboard at the time; none of them were injured.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Wayne County Field

The Cessna plane was en-route from New Bedford, Massachusetts, to Rochester, New York, when its carburetor froze up, forcing the pilot to land in a small backyard field area.

There were two people aboard at the time, including the pilot Jeremiah Coholan and passenger Richard Medeiros; both of them remained unhurt.

Two Dead in Cedar Fort Cessna Crash

A twin-engine Cessna Citation Jet CJ1 owned by Donald L. Baker and his wife Dawn Hunter, crashed near Cedar Fort, Utah. Witnesses saw the airplane on fire and coming to pieces, and heard an explosion. The plane was due at Tucson but never arrived. Two unidentified bodies were recovered from a large debris field a mile long and a quarter mile wide. Snow and fog have been hampering recovery efforts. The names of the victims will be confirmed before they are released. FAA spokesman Allen Kenitze said the Cessna 525 “crashed under unknown circumstances.”

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Tulsa

A Cessna 172SP plane made an emergency landing in a field along 41st Street and Lynn Lane in east Tulsa, Oklahoma, on January 11.

The pilot decided to make an emergency landing after the plane, that took off from Jones Riverside Airport, developed an engine problem. According to Terry Maurer with the Tulsa Police Department, the pilot first thought of landing at Harvey Young Airport but it is surrounded by a residential area and “he didn’t want to try and land a disabled plane around a residential area.”

The plane landed safely. The pilot Zach Prewitt, who is a flight instructor at the Christiansen Flight School, Jones Airport, remained uninjured.

The FAA is investigating.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport

A small plane had to make an emergency landing at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport, Texas, on January 3rd.

Authorities said the single-engine Cessna 210, carrying 3 people, landed gears up on the north-south runway.

All occupants of the plane remained uninjured.

The plane is registered to Kenneth W. Isom, of Idalou.
