Lufthansa Flight Returns to Frankfurt due to Smell of Smoke

Lufthansa flight LH-34 made an emergency landing in Frankfurt, Germany, on March 16th.

The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Hamburg, Germany, but had to return after the crew noticed a smell of smoke in the cockpit.

The plane landed back uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

SpiceJet Flight Veers Off Runway at Bengaluru International Airport

SpiceJet flight SG-1238 veered off runway during landing at Bengaluru International Airport, India, on March 16th.

The incident happened when the plane was coming from Hyderabad, India.

The pilot subsequently managed to re-align the aircraft to the center line.

Three runway lights were damaged in the incident.

U.S. Air Force Plane Makes Emergency Landing in San Antonio

A U.S. Air Force jet made an emergency landing at Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland, Texas, on March 15th.

The C-5M Super Galaxy cargo plane was returning from a training mission when the crew declared an emergency due to a landing gear malfunction.

The plane landed on its nose. All eleven people aboard remained uninjured.

Sheriff’s Office Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Alabama

A Shelby County Sheriff’s Office helicopter made an emergency landing in a field near Logan Martin Dam in Alabama, on March 15th.

The incident happened after the aircraft came in contact with power lines.

Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

The aircraft was participating in search for a missing kayaker.

An air ambulance plane made an emergency landing at Trabzon Airport, Turkey, on March 14th.

The plane took off for Germany but had to turn back due to a technical issue.

The airport was closed before the plane landed safely.

The air ambulance was transporting a British patient from Doha, Qatar.

United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Tampa

United Airlines flight UA-2051 had to return and make an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida, on March 15th.

The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for San Francisco, California, but had to return shortly afterwards due to multiple birds strikes.

The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and thirty-two passengers and five crew members remained unharmed.

U.S. Military Helicopter Crashes in Iraq; 7 Dead

A U.S. military helicopter crashed in Anbar province of Iraq, on March 16th.

The HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter was carrying seven personnel when it went down near the city of al-Qaim.

All seven people aboard were killed in the crash.

The incident is being investigated.

IndiGo Flight Returns to Hyderabad due to Engine Issue

IndiGo flight 6E-334 made an emergency landing in Hyderabad, India, on March 14th.

The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Raipur, India, but had to turn back due to an engine issue.

U.S. Navy Fighter Jet Crashes Off Key West; 2 Killed

A U.S. Navy fighter jet crashed near the Naval Air Station Key West, Florida, on March 14th.

The F/A-18F Super Hornet plane was performing a training flight when it went down.

There were two aviators aboard, including the pilot Lt. Cmdr. James Brice Johnson and the weapons systems operator Lt. Caleb Nathaniel King; both were killed in the crash.

The incident is being investigated.

Emirates Flight Attendant Dies After Falling Out of Plane In Uganda

A flight attendant fell out of an Emirates plane at Entebbe International Airport, Uganda, on March 14th.

The incident happened when the Boeing 777-300 plane was preparing to perform flight EK-730 to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The flight attendant suffered serious injuries. She was taken to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Lufthansa CityLine Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Germany

Lufthansa CityLine flight LH-145 had to return and make an emergency landing in Nuremberg, Germany, on March 14th.

The plane took off for Frankfurt, Germany, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a landing gear problem.

The plane landed back safely. All seventy-one passengers and four crew members remained safe.

Thai AirAsia Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Fire Indication

Thai AirAsia flight FD-761 made an emergency landing at Udon Thani International Airport, Thailand, on March 13th.

The Airbus A320-200N plane heading from Macau to Bangkok, Thailand, was diverted after the crew received an engine fire indication.

The plane landed uneventfully. All one hundred and forty people aboard remained safe.

Qantas Flight Hits Turbulence near Canberra; 2 Injured

Qantas flight QF-718 encountered severe turbulence near Canberra, Australia, on March 13th.

The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Perth was descending toward Canberra when it hit turbulence that injured two flight attendants.

The plane continued for a safe landing. The injured crew members were taken to a hospital.

Southwest Airlines flight WN-3562 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Albuquerque International Sunport, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, on March 11th.

Indigo Plane Returns to Ahmedabad after Engine Shut Down

Indigo flight 6E-244 had to return and make an emergency landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, India, on March 12th.

The Airbus A320-200 en-route to Lucknow, India, had to return after the crew had to shut down one of its engines.

The plane landed safely.

All 186 people aboard remained safe.

US-Bangla AirlinesFlight BS211 update

Update on the fatal crash of US-Bangla Airlines Flight BS211, a de Havilland Dash 8-400 #S2-AGU that performed flight BS-211 from Dhaka to Kathmandu.

There appear to be 22 survivors of 71 aboard. US-Bangla Airlines flight BS211 crashed on approach to Kathmandu-Tribhuvan Airport, Nepal with 67 passengers and 4 crew aboard: 33 were Nepalis, 32 Bangladeshis, one Chinese and one Maldivian.

AviationHerald posted that the Ministry of Tourism reported 39 people died in the accident, 31 were rescued alive. (These numbers will change.)
The pilots aborted their first approach and the flight was cleared to land on runway 20.

The airport reported flight BS211 veered right off the runway and slid for about 300 meters until coming to a rest on a field in flames. The bodies of thirty-one deceased were recovered at the crash site. Eighteen were pronounced dead upon arrival at various hospitals.The General Manager at TIA (airport) Chhetri said “…the plane took a missed approach touching down the fencing area next to the parked planes at the airport.”

Air Traffic Control said “… pilot of Bangladeshi plane repeatedly informed the tower that he was on the right move and proper direction…Then, the plane suddenly took a wrong direction to the west of the Runway 02 threshold and crashed.”

Tailwind Airlines flight XC-1845 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Sofia Airport, Bulgaria, on March 11th.

The Boeing 737-400, flying on behalf of Corendon Air, was en-route from Antalya, Turkey, to Zurich, Switzerland, had to divert due to a loss in cabin pressure.

The oxygen masks were released for the passengers, and they complained pressure and pain in ears.

The plane landed safely.

US- Bangla Plane Crashes in Nepal; 39 Killed, others Injured

US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-211 hit the ground and burst into flames at the runway of Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, on March 12th.

The de Havilland Dash 8-400 was flying from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to Kathmandu, Nepal, at the time of the crash.

The plane was carrying 67 passengers and 4 crew members at the time.

At least 39 people lost their lives in the crash, while 31 people were rescued alive with injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Small Plane Crash-Lands in North Carolina after Losing Fuel Pressure

A small plane crash-landed in a field near Williford Road in Sharpsburg, Wilson County, North Carolina, on the afternoon of March 10th.

The plane was flying from Fayetteville to Washington, at the time.

The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was trying to make an emergency landing after losing fuel pressure.

The plane sustained significant damage.

The pilot remained safe.
