NASA to Host National Space Council Meeting at Kennedy Space Center


NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida will host a meeting of the National Space Council, chaired by Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday, Feb. 21.

NASA Television and the agency’s website will provide live coverage of the meeting beginning at 10 a.m. EST.

Media are invited to cover the vice president’s arrival on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Kennedy’s Shuttle Landing Facility and the council meeting on Wednesday.

After his arrival on Tuesday, Vice President Pence will tour Cape Canaveral Air Force Station launch facilities and participate in a commercial spaceflight federal reception. On Wednesday, Vice President Pence will lead the National Space Council meeting inside Kennedy’s Space Station Processing Facility. “Moon, Mars, and Worlds Beyond: Winning the Next Frontier” will include testimonials from leaders in the civil, commercial, and national security sectors about the importance of the United States’ space enterprise. The Vice President will conclude his visit with a tour of Kennedy Space Center.

Iran Aseman Airlines Plane Crashes in Iran; 66 Killed

Iran Aseman Airlines flight EP-3704 crashed in Semirom, Iran, on February 18th.

The incident happened when the plane was heading from Tehran to Yasuj, Iran.

The plane was carrying sixty passengers and six crew members at the time; all of them were killed in the crash.

Plane Crash in Wyoming Leaves Two Dead

A small plane crashed near Evanston, Wyoming, on February 18th.

The incident happened near Bear River when the plane was transporting two people from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Both occupants were killed in the crash.

Jet2 Flight Diverts to Portugal due to Medical Emergency

Jet2 flight LS-1202 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Faro, Portugal, on February 17th.

The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Lanzarote, Spain, to Birmingham, England, was diverted after the first officer became unwell.

The plane landed safely.

13 Killed in Mexico Helicopter Crash

A military helicopter crashed on top of two vehicles in Oaxaca, Mexico, on February 16th.

The incident happened when the helicopter, carrying officials including Mexican Interior Minister Alfonso Navarrete Prida and Oaxaca’s governor Alejandro Murat, was attempting to land at an airfield in Santiago Jamiltepec.

All the occupants survived the crash, however, thirteen people on the ground were killed.

The officials on-board the helicopter were surveying damage caused by the recent earthquake.
