PIA Plane Crashes in Pakistan; 48 Feared Dead

piaPakistan International Airlines flight PK-661 crashed in Havelian, near Abbottabad, Pakistan, at around 4:45 pm on December 7.

The Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-500 flying from Chitral to Islamabad, Pakistan, crashed due to the failure of its left engine. The plane had lost control with the radar shortly before it hit the ground.

The wreckage caught fire right after the crash.

There were 42 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time. All of them were killed.

The black boxes have been recovered and handed over to Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The investigation is underway.

Asiana Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Fire Indication

asianaAsiana Airlines flight OZ-521 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, on December 5th.

The Boeing 777-200 plane heading from Seoul, South Korea, to London, United Kingdom, was diverted due to an engine fire indication.

The plane landed safely. All 199 people aboard remained unharmed.

Bird-Hit Southwest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Memphis

southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest Airlines flight WN-486 had to return and make an emergency landing in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 4th.

The Boeing 737-700 plane took off for Houston, Texas, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained safe.

Hop Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Oslo

hopHop Airlines flight A5-1278 made an emergency landing in Oslo, Norway, on December 3rd.

The plane was flying from Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, when the crew reported a slat fail message and declared an emergency.

The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
