What: Delta Airlines Douglas DC-9-50 en route from Atlanta Georgia to Melbourne Florida
Where: Melbourne
When: Jun 9th 2011, 6:30 pm
Why: On approach to Melbourne, the flight developed a flaps problem.

Brevard County hospitals were notified and emergency crews were on the scene in less than eight minutes.

The pilot declared an emergency, aborted the approach and thirty minutes later made a safe landing. There were no injuries, and locals commended the pilot’s performance.
